Norwegian starts Gatwick-Rhodes direct flight
June 19 (TravelAndy): Norwegian is continuing its UK expansion with a new direct service from London Gatwick to Rhodes, that took off on June 17.
The weekly flight will operate on Saturdays, throughout summer, said the airline.

Air Canada starts Montreal-Marseille nonstop flight
June 12 (TravelAndy): The departure of flight AC1962 from Montreal-Trudeau airport tonight will mark the successful launch of Air Canada Rouge’s newest route.
The seasonal, non-stop service between Montreal and Marseille will operate three times a week during the summer and give flyers more choices when travelling to France.
“The Marseille service will be the only non-stop flight operated by a network carrier between Marseille and North America further expanding Air Canada’s reach in France by complementing existing services to Paris, Lyon and Nice, and strengthening our presence in Provence-Côte d’Azur, a popular summer destination for Quebecers,” said Benjamin Smith, president, passenger airlines at Air Canada. Vietjet to fly 14 Hanoi-Incheon return flights a week
June 5 (TravelAndy): In a bid to meet the rising travel demand, Vietjet is increasing its operation frequency on the Hanoi – Incheon route to 14 return flights a week. The increase will come into effect starting August 2, 2017.
Beginning July 21, 2017, the Hanoi – Taipei route will also enjoy a frequency of 11 round trips per week with flights available on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Air India to fly Delhi-Copenhagen direct from Sep 16
June 3 (TravelAndy): India’s flagship carrier Air India will start nonstop flights between New Delhi and Denmark’s Copenhagen from September 16.
The flight will operate thrice a week on this route, said the airline on its official Facebook page. The flying time will be around eight hours.

Air Canada to launch own loyalty program in 2020
May 31 (TravelAndy): Air Canada has announced to launch its own loyalty program in 2020 upon the expiry of its commercial agreement with Aimia, the operator of Aeroplan.
Effective June 30, 2020, Aeroplan will no longer be the loyalty program for Air Canada. Aeroplan has been independently owned and operated by Aimia for almost a decade. By operating its own loyalty program, Air Canada will be better able to strengthen its customer relationships and deliver a more consistent end-to-end customer experience.

Vietjet starts Hanoi-Singapore flights
May 4 (TravelAndy): The Vietnamese low cost carrier, Vietjet has started operating on the Singapore-Hanoi route from the Changi international airport.
The flight will be 2 hour 55 minutes both ways.

Qatar Airways to fly third nonstop Doha-Bali flight
May 2 (TravelAndy): Qatar Airways has announced that from May 7, 2017, the airline will operate its third daily non-stop flight from Doha’s Hamad International Airport to Bali’s Denpasar.
The new flight will depart from Doha at 17.45 and reach Denpasar ar 08.10 the next day. On its return, the flight will leave Denpasar at 09.30 and reach Doha at 14.05.

Norwegian to fly London-Singapore from Sep 28
April 27 (TravelAndy): Budget airline Norwegian will start flights between London and Singapore from September 28, 2017, the airline said.
With this, the airline’s growing low-cost long-haul network expands to Asia.

Normandy in France to promote tourism
April 25 (Notintown.net): The Cotentin Peninsula – also known as the Cherbourg Peninsula – in the Normandy region of France, will soon see its many tourism boards undergo a major restructuring in the next few months.
By June this year, 11 local tourism boards will have merged into one big entity and renamed Cotentin Tourist office making it, arguably, one of the most powerful tourism boards in the country with an annual budget of EUR4 million.

e-Visas for 18 countries to Russia far east
April 24 (TravelAndy): Russia has simplified visa procedures for the citizens of 18 countries, including India, to its far east when the visitors are entering the country through checkpoints at the Free Port of Vladivostok.
A list of 18 countries has been approved whose citizens can obtain electronic single entry business, tourist or humanitarian visas when entering the Russian Federation through checkpoints at the Free Port of Vladivostok. This initiative is aimed at enhancing the investment appeal of the region and expanding business ties by facilitating projects involving foreign companies, and attracting more foreign tourists, an official statement said.
The signed directive submitted by the Ministry for the Development of the Russian Far East contains an approved list of 18 countries: Algeria, Bahrein, Brunei, India, Qatar, People’s Republic of China, Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Morocco, Mexico, United Arab Emirates, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Tunisia, Turkey and Japan.
