Indigo adds Mangalore to its flight network
April 19 (TravelAndy): IndiGo, Indian low-cost carrier has announced Mangalore as its new destination, said the airline in a release.
Effective May 01 2017, IndiGo will operate daily non-stop flights from Mangalore to Bengaluru and Mumbai at fares starting Rs 1499.
Mr. Aditya Ghosh, President and Whole Time Director, IndiGo said, “Mangalore, an important seaport and a major commercial centre in Karnataka with the state’s second busiest airport, is fast gaining prominence as a business hub and a tourist gateway. Glass roof train on Vizag-Araku route
April 18 (TravelAndy): To delight passengers travelling from Vishakhapatnam to Araku Valley in India’s Andhra Pradesh state, Indian Railways launched a special glass top coach, which will provide panoramic view of the route.
Known as Vistadome, this air-conditioned coach attached to the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger train, claims to be a first-of-its-kind in Indian Railways.

Qantas switches on free in-flight Wi-Fi
April 14 (TravelAndy): Australian flagship carrier Qantas has switched on inflight Wi-Fi for customers travelling on board its internet-capable Boeing 737-800, offering fast, free connectivity on Australian domestic flights.
Following months of performance testing, Wi-Fi will now operate in beta mode on a single Boeing 737 aircraft, so customers can test it out for themselves on selected flights while Qantas continues to fine-tune the system.
Testing is expected to be complete by mid-year, and from there installation of the technology is expected to begin on Qantas’ domestic fleet of Airbus 330s and Boeing 737s. The roll-out across 80 aircraft will be completed at the end of 2018. Continue reading Qantas switches on free in-flight Wi-Fi
IndiGo offers tickets from INR1599
April 11 (TravelAndy): Indian low cost carrier IndiGo has announced a limited period summer discount, with fares starting from INR1599.
The offer is available till April 12, 2017, midnight, for a travel period of May 1 to June 30, 2017, said the airline.

Tulip festival on in Kashmir
April 10 (TravelAndy): Asia’s largest tulip garden is on in the north Indian valley of Kashmir.
Apart from displaying a large variety of tulips, the 15-day festival will also demonstrate the Kashmiri cuisine, art, craft and literature, said reports.

Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus starts
April 9 (TravelAndy): To facilitate travel between India and Bangladesh, a Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus service was flagged off from Kolkata yesterday.
This is a part of several initiatives being taken to strengthen bilateral relations and provide better tourism, road and rail connectivity for citizens of both India and Bangladesh. (Also read: Kolkata budget travel guide)

Emirates to fly Dubai-Bali twice a day
April 7 (TravelAndy): Emirates will start it second daily flight between Dubai and the Indonesia tourist hotspot Bali from July 2, 2017.
Operated by Emirates’ popular Boeing 777-300ER aircraft in a two-class configuration with 42 seats in Business Class and 386 seats in Economy Class. The outbound flight EK360 will depart from Dubai at 0125hrs and arrive in I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport at 1430hrs, the airline said.
VietJet launches Hanoi-Siem Reap daily flight
April 5 (TravelAndy): Vietnamese low-cost carrier VietJet has launched an international flight between Hanoi, the capital of Vietnam and Siem Reap, Cambodia, said the airline. (Also read: The awesome Cambodia travel guide on TravelAndy)
The daily flight leaves Noi Bai International Airport, Hanoi at 16:55 and arrives in Siem Reap at 18:40.

AirAsia to fly Pontianak-Kuching direct from June 5
April 4 (TravelAndy): Budget airline AirAsia has announced to start a direct flight between Pontianak in Indonesia and Kuching in Malaysia from June 5, 2017.
This will mark the airline’s first direct flight route between Indonesia and Kuching.

India’s longest road tunnel to open on April 2
April 1 (TravelAndy): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate India’s longest road tunnel – the 9km Chenani-Nashri Tunnel – tomorrow.
Situated on the NH-44, which connects Jammu with Srinagar, the tunnel will reduce travel time between the two cities by around two hours by reducing road distance by 31km.

Delhi: Helicopter rides for tourists from April 1
March 30 (TravelAndy): The Delhi administration is set to offer helicopter rides for tourists from April 1, 2017.
The service will be operated by Pawan Hans, which is a government of India enterprise under the ministry of civil aviation.

Telangana push for helicopter tourism
March 27 (TravelAndy): India’s youngest state Telangana has decided to develop heliports to facilitate conveyance for tourists, said reports.
The areas identified as heliports are Dundigal, Hakimpet, Nadirgul in Hyderabad, Basanthnagar in Karimnagar, Nagarjunasagar, Nalgonda, Alair (Yadagirigutta), Warangal and Kagaznagar (Sirpur).
