Book train bedroll online and take it home

December 10 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways has introduced a takeaway e-bedroll system.

Reports said travellers can now buy their bedrolls online through the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The bedrolls can also be availed from the designated food plazas and fast food units of IRCTC.

This is a take-away facility and allows passengers to take their bedrolls home.

Primarily, the trial service would be launched in select stations including New Delhi, Hazrat Nizamuddin, Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) in Mumbai and Mumbai Central.

Two bed sheets along with a pillow will cost INR140, a blanket will cost INR110. All of these can be purchased together for INR250. They can also be purchased separately.

This service will be extended to both AC and sleeper class passengers.

“We will expand this facility to more stations after evaluating its success,” said IRCTC Chairman and Managing Director A.K. Manocha.
