Chandigarh-Leh road trip to get shorter
June 21 (TravelAndy): Road trip from Chandigarh to Leh in India’s Jammu and Kashmir state is going to get faster.
Several road tunnels are going to be developed along this route, which is expected to reduce the journey time by approximately 3 hours, reported The Business Standard.
Along this route, the 310 kmvstretch between Chandigarh and Manali will be reduced by 30 Km. This will be made possible by construction of five tunnels across Kiratpur in Punjab and Ner Chawk in Himachal Pradesh. Continue reading Chandigarh-Leh road trip to get shorter
Shanghai: App to help foreign tourists
One thousand trained interpretors have been recruited, who will give face to face guidance to visitors, with the aid of live video chat.
Shanghai being one of the prime tourist destinations in China, this service is expected to draw an increased number of tourists to the city.
Ladakh more accessible to foreign tourists
June 18 (TravelAndy): India has made the beautiful Ladakh region of its Jammu and Kashmir state more accessible to foreign tourists.
According to reports, the government has eased the process of seeking protected area and restricted area permits.

Disney theme park-resort opens in Shanghai
June 17 (TravelAndy): Disney yesterday opened Shanghai Disney Resort, a theme park-cum-resort.
The opening followed a lot of scrutiny due to the recent terror attack that took place in a nightclub near the Disney theme park at Orlando in Florida, US.

Monsoon attractions galore for visitors to Goa
June 16 (TravelAndy): Monsoon isn’t the busiest time in Goa, but the tourism department of the popular beach state in south India is promoting a number of activities, festivals and less-popular beaches in an effort to keep the tourists coming in the lean season.
Goa Tourism, through its Twitter handle @TourismGoa, which has more than 27,200 followers, is promoting activities such as monsoon trekking, white water rafting, spice plantation tours and island visits.

India plans Delhi-Agra sea plane service
June 14 (TravelAndy): Forget road jams! Tourists from Delhi might soon be able to take a sea plane to go see the Taj Mahal in Agra.
India is planning to launch a ‘fly boat’ or sea plane service between the national capital and Agra, said The Times of India (TOI).
“The ‘fly boat’ project will start in the next three months. We have also been in discussions with the Airports Authority of India in order to frame rules and regulations needed to introduce seaplanes on this route,” Nitin Gadkari, union transport minister told TOI. June 12 (TravelAndy): Fliers from India could soon have an additional low-cost airline to choose from when flying to international destinations with GoAir intending to start international operations.
Floating waterfall at Versailles
June 10 (TravelAndy): Palace of Versailles will have an extra attraction for tourists this summer with it hosting an exhibition of the work of internationally-famous visual artist Olafur Eliasson.
The waterfall has been crafted in such a way that it seems to be magically hanging from the sky, over the garden of the palace.
“This waterfall reinvigorates the engineering ingenuity of the past,” said Eliasson.

Delhi-Leh bus service begins
June 8 (TravelAndy): This summer, road trip enthusiasts can benefit from the most cost-effective means to reach the beautiful Ladakh in India’s Jammu and Kashmir state.
Himachal Road Transport Corporation (HRTC) started operating a bus service between Delhi and Leh on Monday, with one way tickets priced at INR1353 per person.

Go boating at Chemballikundu tourism park
June 7 (TravelAndy): South India’s Kerala state has started boating services at the Chemballikundu-Vayalapra-Parappa tourism park in Kannur district from yesterday, said The Hindu.
In the initial phase of the service, kayaks and paddle boats were introduced. These boats will have all safety measures including life jackets.
Apart from the boat jetty, the District Tourism Promotion Council has been entrusted with enhancement of the wharf area, seating arrangement, toilet block and solar lighting to facilitate a visitor’s experience at the park. Continue reading Go boating at Chemballikundu tourism park
Indian Railways launches tiger circuit train
June 6 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways flagged off its first tiger circuit train from Delhi’s Safdargunj station yesterday.
“The train with a 5 days/6 nights itinerary will start from Delhi’s Sufdarjung railway station and travel via Katani, Jabalpur, Bandhavgadh, Kanha,” said the statement issued by Indian Railways.
