Mansarovar travel advisory for Indians
June 4 (TravelAndy): India has advised its citizens to avoid the Nepalgunj – Simikot – Hilsa route to visit Kaliash Mansarovar.
A number of Indians intending to visit Mansarovar through private arrangements by this route are facing logistical problems on account of bad weather, said a release from the Indian embassy in Kathmandu.
The government advised against Indian citizens taking this route since the weather was expected to deteriorate over the next few days and said both the India and Nepal governments were working together to rescue stranded tourists. Continue reading Mansarovar travel advisory for Indians
Tamil Nadu to launch app for tourists
June 2 (TravelAndy): South India’s state Tamil Nadu will launch a mobile app for tourists, said The Hindu.
This app will be designed to guide tourists through the various tourist spots cross the state. For example, if a visitor is near the popular Thanjavur Big Temple, the app can guide him regarding all necessary information about the place.
Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) intends to develop the app in such a way that it gives fast lane access to all tourism related information and so that it can help a tourist browse and download all necessary information in the least possible time on the go. Singapore to turn Mandai into eco-tourism hub
June 1 (TravelAndy): Singapore will turn its Mandai Safari Park into an eco-tourism hub by 2020.
At present, the major tourism highlights of the park are Singapore Zoo, the River Safari and the Night Safari.

Lufthansa to fly Frankfurt-Cape Town from Dec 2
May 31 (TravelAndy): Lufthansa will start direct flights between Cape Town and Frankfurt from December 2, 2016.
The flight will fly thrice a week from Germany on Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

AI starts Hyderabad-Bhopal flight via Jabalpur
May 29 (TravelAndy): Air India has introduced flights between Hyderabad and Bhopal via Jabalpur.
The flight will operate four times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Kamakhya-Katra train service starts
May 28 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways launched a direct train between Kamakhya in Assam and Katra in Vaishno Devi in north India’s Jammu and Kashmir state.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi flagged off the train from Shillong yesterday. It is initially scheduled to operate on a weekly basis.
The train will cover its 2,605km in approximately 53 hours. The train will run through the Indian states of Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, and Jammu & Kashmir. Continue reading Kamakhya-Katra train service starts
AirAsia India offers tickets from INR1199
May 27 (TravelAndy): As a part of their monsoon sale, AirAsia India is offering discounted fares with ticket starting from INR1199.
Tickets under this scheme can be booked till May 29, midnight, for travel period extending from now to September 30, 2016.

Libya travel ban on Indians
May 26 (TravelAndy): India has banned its citizens from travelling to Libya in the light of the current security situation in the north African country.
A recent government press release said: “In view of prevailing security situation in Libya, security threats and challenges to lives of Indian nationals in Libya, the Government of India has decided to impose travel ban on Indian nationals planning to travel to Libya irrespective of the purpose.”

Air India offers tickets at INR1499
May 24 (TravelAndy): India’s national carrier, Air India has announced all-in ticket fares starting from INR1499, on its domestic route.
The offer is valid till May 25 midnight, for a travel period of July 1 to September 30, 2016.

Focus on fort tourism in Maharashtra
May 23 (TravelAndy): India’s western state of Maharashtra will equip some of its royal forts with facilities that would attract tourists, said The Times of India.
Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation has shortlisted five forts for development — Ramshej fort in Nashik, Harihar in Trimbakeshwar, Ankai Tankai near Yeola, Salher and Mulher near Satana.
The infrastructure to be introduced in and around each fort are a facilitation centre, tourists’ study centre, washrooms, restaurants, gift and local handicraft centre, parking, lodging and electrification. Continue reading Focus on fort tourism in Maharashtra
Vistara to fly Delhi-Kolkata from June 10
May 21 (TravelAndy): Vistara, a Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines joint venture carrier, is set to start two Kolkata-Delhi flights every day from June 10, 2016.
The first will depart from Delhi at 7.20 and reach Kolkata at 9.30. The second daily flight will depart from Delhi at 17.55 and reach Kolkata at 20.10.
The return flights will leave Kolkata at 10.15 and 20.50 and reach Delhi at 12.50 and 23.15 respectively.
The flights will operate on all days of the week except Sundays.
