Goa bike rally on Aug 15
August 6 (TravelAndy): India’s beach state of Goa has planned a motorcycle rally on August 15, which marks the country’s 69th Independence Day.
To attract more tourists to the state during the Independence Day weekend, Goa tourism has taken this initiative. The rally will start from Goa’s Paryatan Bhavan in Patto Panjim and conclude in Shiroda, Goa Highway Junction.
Approximately 100 bikers are expected to take part in this rally. The route itinerary will be provided to the participant on the day of the event. The rally will cover significant churches, rivers, beaches, temples and villages. Continue reading Goa bike rally on Aug 15
CCTV cameras in Goa shacks
June 29 (TravelAndy): To ensure safety for tourists, Goa has made it mandatory for all beach shacks to install CCTV during the tourist season, starting from October, 2016 said The Hindu BusinessLine.
Shacks are temporary eateries, which are set up during the tourist season, along the 106 kilometer coast line of India’s beach state.

Monsoon attractions galore for visitors to Goa
June 16 (TravelAndy): Monsoon isn’t the busiest time in Goa, but the tourism department of the popular beach state in south India is promoting a number of activities, festivals and less-popular beaches in an effort to keep the tourists coming in the lean season.
Goa Tourism, through its Twitter handle @TourismGoa, which has more than 27,200 followers, is promoting activities such as monsoon trekking, white water rafting, spice plantation tours and island visits.

Goa’s Aguada Jail to become tourist spot
May 16 (TravelAndy): Aguada Jail, located in south India’s coastal state Goa, is soon going to become a tourists destination, said reports.
The jail, which is situated by the Arabian Sea, is no longer operational and the inmates have been shifted to Colavela jail.

April 27 (TravelAndy): Goa has launched an e-commerce portal and mobile application on both Android and iOS platforms.
This new e-commerce portal and mobile app will provide domestic and international tourists to the popular destination the power to select holiday packages, travel itineraries, book hotel, sight-seeing, adventure trips, spice gardens, water parks, crocodile dundees, dolphin trips and others.

Goa’s Konkan fruit fest from April 22
April 18 (TravelAndy): Goa is set to host the Konkan fruit fest, which is going to take place at Campal Panjim from April 22-24.
Botanical Society of Goa, along with Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC), will host this year’s Konkan fruit festival in oirder to attract tourists to this unique event and to spread awareness regarding the rare species of fruits available in the coastal state of India.

Festival keeps Goa abuzz with tourists
March 30 (TravelAndy): Goa is already buzzing with its biggest Spring festival, the Shigmo fest, and it is all set to host the Goa food and culture festival from April 6.
The Shigmo festival, which is celebrated as part of Holi, the festival of colours, began on March 24 and will conclude on April 7.

South India kite festival from Jan 16
January 10 (TravelAndy): Belgavi in Maharashtra and Goa are all set to host the sixth international kite festival from January 16.
The first phase of the festival will start in Belgavi from January 16 and continue till January 18; the following phase will be hosted on Colva beach, south Goa from January 19 to 21. The concluding phase will be held at Miramar beach near Panjim,north Goa on January 22 and 24.
Approximately 25 international kite flyers from the US, Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, UK, Russia, Estonia, the Netherlands, France and Italy are expected to participate. Fly into Mandovi river in Goa
January 4 (TravelAndy): Goa is set to start sea plane and helicopter services for tourists from January 6, said reports.
During the first phase, tourists will be able to board the sea planes from Dabolim airport and will be directly flown into Mandovi and Chapora river.

Goa Rajdhani to run from Nov 15
November 14 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways is going to flag off the Goa Rajdhani train from Madgaon on November 15, said reports.
The bi-weekly train service will operate between Nizamuddin station in New Delhi and Madgaon in Goa.

From lighthouse to tourist attraction
October 14 (TravelAndy): The Indian government is chalking out a plan to transform 78 lighthouses across India, into tourism centres.
The identified lighthouses for this are located in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, said an official statement.
There are plans to using land adjacent to the light houses to develop hotels, resorts, viewing galleries, maritime museums and heritage museums, adventure sports facilities, thematic restaurants, souvenir shops, laser shows, spa and rejuvenation centres, amphitheatres and other facilities to attract tourists. Air Asia to fly Kuala Lumpur-Goa
June 4 (TravelAndy): In what could be a major boost to tourism in Goa, Air Asia has announced to start flights between the Indian beach haven and Kuala Lumpur.
The low-cost carrier will operate three flights a week on this route from August 27, the airline has announced.
