Robots guide visitors at Berlin’s travel fair
March 12 (TravelAndy): Two robots are welcoming visitors to the International Tourism Trade fair in Berlin (ITB).
Chihira Kanae, the robot, is extending warm welcome to the tourists. She is also guiding them to the right direction. She has been joined by her male counterpart, Mario, who is also functioning as a guide to the visitors.

Seaplane in Hyderabad from April 15
March 11 (TravelAndy): Hyderabad, the capital of India’s newest state Telangana, is set to start its first seaplane service from April 15, said reports.
After the success of helicopter tourism, Telangana is banking on their new venture of seaplane tourism.

Ahmedabad runway closure to affect flights
March 10 (TravelAndy): To execute a scheduled resurfacing, the runway of Ahmedabad airport will remain closed from 10.00 to 18.00 from April 15 to October 29, said reports.
Following the closure, private airline Indigo has announced cancellation of 14 flights flying to and from the capital of India’s state of Gujarat.
Indigo, which currently flies 24 flights to and from Ahmedabad has announced in a statement that flights between Ahmedabad and Delhi, Goa, Kolkata, Pune, Indore, Bangaluru, Mumbai will be non-operational during this phase. Continue reading Ahmedabad runway closure to affect flights
Storm hits flight services in Abu Dhabi
March 9 (TravelAndy): Flight services have been affected at Abu Dhabi International Airport in the wake of a storm that hit the UAE capital on Wednesday.
Around midday, Abu Dhabi International Airport tweeted: “Due to severe weather conditions, flights at Abu Dhabi International Airport are suspended until further notice.”

Zimbabwe relaxes visa requirements
March 8 (TravelAndy): Zimbabwe has decided to relax visa requirements with immediate effect to attract tourists.
The country has decided to follow a three tier model for this purpose and foreign countries have been categorised as A, B and C.
Nations under category A include citizens of South African Development Community (SADC). They will no longer require visa to visit Zimbabwe. Thirty-seven countries under category B include China, Equatorial Guinea, Iran, Cuba, among others. These countries will enjoy the privilege of visa-on-arrival. Jet Airways to fly Indore-Goa direct from June 16
March 7 (TravelAndy): Jet Airways will start a direct flight between the Indian cities of Indore and Goa from June 16.
The flight will go via Mumbai.

Air Asia to offer tickets from INR1099
March 6 (TravelAndy): Air Asia is all set to offer tickets at all-inclusive discounted one way fare starting from INR1099, on select domestic routes.
Tickets can be booked from March 7 to March 13, for a travel period of October 1, 2016 to May 22, 2017.

Canada’s new ETA rule for visa-exempted countries
March 5 (TravelAndy): The new pre-screening measure imposed by Canada, on visitors from visa-exempted countries, that was set to take effect on March 15, has been extended by 2 months.
Travellers, from countries enjoying no-visa facility, will require electronic travel authorization (eTA) prior to boarding their flight, which will be flying to or passing through Canada.

Air India’s all women crew on Women’s Day
March 5 (TravelAndy): To mark International Women’s day, Air India will fly its longest all women crew flight from Delhi to San Francisco.
The flight, spanning more than 15 hours, will be managed by 14 crew members and four pilots, all of whom are women.

Telangana starts yacht services for tourists
March 3 (TravelAndy): In order to promote tourism in the state, India’s youngest state, Telangana has recently launched two luxury yachts in Hussain Sagar lake.
The yachts would ferry 12-15 tourists per ride, at a cost of INR100 per person.

Fest welcomes tourists to Ladakh
March 2 (TravelAndy): To mark the beginning of tourist season in Ladakh, a festival had been organized in this district situated India’s Jammu and Kashmir state.
Popularly known as ‘Winter Hemis Festival’, it officially heralds spring and ushers in tourism to the entire region of Ladakh.

Vietnam: Adventure sports suspended at Da Lat
March 1 (TravelAndy): Da Lat in Vietnam has suspended all adventure tourism activities following the recent death of three British tourists at the site.
According to media reports, the three tourists had participated in water sports at Da Lat, without the required safety measures.
