Bullet train connects Hokkaido to Tokyo
March 26 (TravelAndy): The first bullet train track connecting Japan’s northernmost island Hokkaido to Tokyo opened on Saturday, said The Bangkok Post.
The introduction of bullet train on this route has reduced travel time between Hokkaido and Tokyo by 53 minutes.

World celebrates Holi, the fest of colours
March 24 (TravelAndy): Millions of people around the world are today celebrating Holi, the festival of colours.
Though the festival has Hindu origins, this festival, which is associated with the arrival of Spring, has in recent times transcended religious and political boundaries and is celebrated by people in many countries of the world.
In India, the festival is mainly associated with people colouring each other up with coloured powder (gulal) and water-based colours. US travel alert after Brussels attack
March 23 (TravelAndy): Following terrorist attack in Brussels, The U.S. has issued travel alert for its citizens travelling to Europe, said CNBC.
The alert has been issued till June 20.

Ranthambhore plans 24X7 entry for visitors
March 22 (TravelAndy): India’s Rajasthan state authorities are planning to throw open Ranthambhore National Park for visitors 24X7, said reports.
At present, the forest remains open for tourists six hours every day — three hours each in the morning and evening — between October and June.

Airbnb opens Cuba doors to all nationalities
March 21 (TravelAndy): People from all nationalities can now book Airbnb accommodations in Cuba.
Online accommodation aggregator Airbnb started operating in Cuba in April 2015. However, it was permitted to only accommodate American citizens in their Cuban lodges.

Airbnb to start add-on services for travellers
March 18 (TravelAndy): Airbnb, the vacation rental service company, plans to enhance the service the provide to tourists across the globe.
Travellers, renting Airbnb accommodations, might soon be able to avail facilities including personal chef, art gallery tours, rental bikes, and restaurant reservations.

Mexico hot air balloon fest postponed
March 16 (TravelAndy): The hot air balloon festival scheduled to take place in Mexico’s coastal town Puerto Vallarta, from March 18-20, has been postponed due to adverse weather conditions.
Participants can claim refund for their tickets or they can exchange their ticket for the revised schedule. The rescheduled dates will be announced shortly.

Jet Airways to fly Amsterdam from March 27
March 14 (TravelAndy): Jet Airways is all set to operate daily non-stop flight to Amsterdam from Delhi and Mumbai, from March 27.
The flight is scheduled to depart from Mumbai at 02.25 and arrive in Amsterdam at 08.15. On the return trip, the flight will leave Amsterdam at 11.20 and reach Mumbai at 23.55.

Ladakh’s polo festival to begin from July 11
March 13 (TravelAndy): In a bid to attract adventure enthusiasts, Ladakh is all set to start its first polo festival, which will be held from July 11-17, this year.
The festival will be set in Ladakh’s Chushot village, in an attempt to place it on the tourism map of India’s state of Jammu and Kashmir.
