Kerala to develop Kadambrayar island tourism
January 17 (TravelAndy): To encourage eco-tourism, India’s back water state Kerala has decided to give a facelift to Kadambrayar island tourism, said The Times of India.
A variety of boat services will be introduces across the island, which will include coracles, rafts and houseboats.

Air India Express Kozhikode-Riyadh from Dec 2
October 25 (TravelAndy): Air India Express will start direct flights between Kozhikode in South India’s Kerala state and Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, from December 2.
The four-times-a-week flight will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Kerala to develop tea estate tourism
October 23 (TraverlAndy): India’s backwater state Kerala is working towards developing tea estate tourism in Priyadarshini tea plantation in the Wayanad district, said The Hindu.
The tea estate, which has had a soft opening, is slated to be officially inaugurated in November.
The government has already set up a recreational park with tribal murals, an amphitheater, adventure tourism activities such as trekking, nature trails, night camping, mountain biking, and swimming facilities, to attract tourists. Continue reading Kerala to develop tea estate tourism
Focus on travel for the disabled
September 26 (TravelAndy): India’s Kerala state along with South India Tourism Foundation is organising ‘Sugama Sancharan’ , a barrier-free travel event for differently-abled persons, on September 27.
A total of 100 differently-abled persons, from training and rehabilitation centres of the Union labour ministry and Social Welfare and Kerala State Handicapped Welfare Corporation, will be taken on walking tour to Kanakakkunnu Palace and to Veli Tourist Village for sight-seeing and boating, said The Hindu newspaper.

Fort Kochi to become disabled-friendly
August 22 (TravelAndy): The authorities are planning to develop Fort Kochi in the south Indian state of Kerala as disable-friendly tourist destination, said The New Indian Express.
On December 3, 2016, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities, the state plans to officially announce Fort Kochi as the first disable-friendly tourist spot in India.

Go boating at Chemballikundu tourism park
June 7 (TravelAndy): South India’s Kerala state has started boating services at the Chemballikundu-Vayalapra-Parappa tourism park in Kannur district from yesterday, said The Hindu.
In the initial phase of the service, kayaks and paddle boats were introduced. These boats will have all safety measures including life jackets.
Apart from the boat jetty, the District Tourism Promotion Council has been entrusted with enhancement of the wharf area, seating arrangement, toilet block and solar lighting to facilitate a visitor’s experience at the park. Continue reading Go boating at Chemballikundu tourism park
Kochi marina to become water sport arena
December 16 (TravelAndy): In a bid to promote adventure tourism, the city of Kochi in Kerala is set to turn its marina into a water sport arena from January, said The Hindu.
The marina operators have introduced speed boats and jet kayaks to facilitate water sports.

Kerala to develop 150km tourism circuit
November 10 (TravelAndy): The state of Kerala in South India is set to develop one of the country’s first mega tourism circuits, said reports.
The 150km long circuit will be developed in the Pathanamthitta-Gavi-Vagamon-Thekkady region of central Kerala.
Adventure tourism activities including buggy walks, shooting arena, archery arena, pain ball arena, Burma bridge, trampoline walk, rock climbing, multi-line walk and earthquake walk will be available for tourists. A 6km nature trail along the pain valley forest will also be in place.
This project under the Centre’s ‘Swadesh Darshan’ programme intends to promote theme-based tourism.
This circuit will extend from Angamoozhy in Pathanamthitta to Vagamon covering about 150km.
Kerala tourism minister A.P. Anilkumar said, “The development of a mega tourism circuit will not only create tourism infrastructure of global standards, but also lead to creation of jobs.”
From lighthouse to tourist attraction
October 14 (TravelAndy): The Indian government is chalking out a plan to transform 78 lighthouses across India, into tourism centres.
The identified lighthouses for this are located in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, said an official statement.
There are plans to using land adjacent to the light houses to develop hotels, resorts, viewing galleries, maritime museums and heritage museums, adventure sports facilities, thematic restaurants, souvenir shops, laser shows, spa and rejuvenation centres, amphitheatres and other facilities to attract tourists. Kerala chalks temple tourism plan
September 26 (TravelAndy): In an effort to attract pilgrim tourists, the state of Kerala in India has decided to develop the Ayyarvattom Maha Sudarshana temple in its Kozhikode district. The project kicks off from October 3.
The work undertaken by Kerala tourism include construction of guest rooms for travellers, improving basic amenities and beautification of the place.
