Kerala Tourism woos European tourists
January 22 (TravelAndy): Kerala’s many advantages as tourism destination were on full display for the Dutch and other European travellers at the five-day Vakantiebeurs 2017, the biggest tourism trade event in the Netherlands.
Laidback cruises on serene backwaters and Ayurveda rejuvenation therapies showcased at the Kerala pavilion grabbed attention and generated several enquiries at Vakantiebeurs 2017, which was held in the city of Utrecht from January 10-15 and drew up to 108,000 visitors.

Air India lures with free excess baggage
January 8 (TravelAndy): India’s flagship carrier Air India has announced free check-in luggage allowance of up to 40kg for economy class passengers on two Delhi-Mumbai to and fro flights.
The free check-in allowance for business class passengers on this route is 50kg.

Israel’s travel warning in India
December 31 (TravelAndy): Israel has issued a travel advisory for its citizens against travelling to India.
The government of Israel warned of an immediate threat of attacks on tourist, especially Western tourists, particularly in south-west India.

SpiceJet offers INR3111 international tickets
December 20 (TravelAndy): Indian budget airline SpiceJet is offering all-in one-way international flight tickets in its network starting from INR3,111.
These discounted tickets can be booked till the midnight of December 21, 2016 for travel from January 15 to October 28, 2017.

First direct flight between India & Indonesia
December 18 (TravelAndy): Indonesia’s flagship carrier, Garuda Indonesia, has started the first direct flight between India and Indonesia.
The thrice-a-week flight operates between Mumbai and Jakarta with a stopover in Bangkok on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Bhutan Air to fly Bangkok-Bodh Gaya from Dec 4
November 25 (TravelAndy): Bhutan Air will start a new nonstop flight route between Bangkok and Bodh Gaya in India’s Bihar state, from December 4, 2016.
Twice-a-week flights will operate between Bangkok and Bodh Gaya on Sundays and Wednesdays, said the airline.

IndiGo to fly Chennai-Muscat direct from Dec 15
November 19 (TravelAndy): Indian low cost carrier IndiGo is going to start a new daily direct flight between Chennai in India and Muscat in Oman, from December 15, 2016, said reports.
The all-in introductory price of one-way tickets is INR7999.

India: Scrapping INR500, 1000 notes hit tourism
November 13 (TravelAndy): The recent scrapping of INR500 and INR1000 notes by the Indian government has hit the tourism sector hard.
According to a report in The Hindu newapaper, several bookings to Dehradun in Uttarakhand state in north India were cancelled this weekend due to lack of cash in ATMs, said hotel owners.

Australia travel advisory against India
November 3 (TravelAndy): Australia has recently issued a travel advisory against travelling to India, following a similar advisory issued by the US, on November 1.
“We advise you to exercise a high degree of caution in India because of the high threat of terrorist activity, civil unrest and crime, and the high rate of vehicle accidents,” said the advisory.
“We continue to receive reports that terrorists are planning attacks in India, including in regions frequented by Westerners. We assess that attacks could occur anywhere at any time with little or no warning, including in locations frequented by Australians,” it added. Diwali, the festival of lights, today
October 30 (TravelAndy): India is celebrating the festival of Diwali today.
The primarily Hindu festival celebrates the victory of Good over Evil.
The festival is marked by the lighting of diyas (earthen lamps) and display of fireworks.

Puducherry to develop own Marina Beach
October 18 (TravelAndy): India’s union territory, Puducherry has decided to develop its Vambakeerappalayam beach near the Puducherry light house, into a tourist destination, said reports.
“The beach has to be converted to a place where people with their families can come and spend their evenings. Buses should be operated to the beach and tourists can be taken free of cost for one week and later by fixing a ticket fare,” Kiran Bedi, Lt. Governor of Puducherry was quoted as saying.

Jet Airways to fly Kozhikode-Sharjah from Oct 30
October 12 (TravelAndy): Jet Airways has announced a daily flight service from Kozhikode to Sharjah, from October 30.
Kozhikode is the closest airport to Kerala’s beautiful Wayanad district, which attracts a significant number of tourists.
