Northern Ireland promotes GoT tourism
October 24 (TravelAndy): Tourism Ireland has launched a campaign in India to promote northern Ireland where the popular television series Game of Thrones has been filmed.
The four-week digital campaign targeting the Indian fan base of this hit series will be conducted through Facebook and Twitter.

SpiceJet to fly Delhi-Kochi non-stop
October 23 (TravelAndy): Indian low cost carrier SpiceJet has announced daily non-stop flights between Delhi and Kochi, commencing from November 19.

Tamil Nadu to promote eco-tourism
October 21 (TravelAndy) : In an attempt to promote eco-tourism, India’s Tamil Nadu has decided to develop the forests situated in its Kanyakumari district, said reports.
Initially, the state government of Tamil Nadu has planned eco-tourism activities in the wildlife sanctuaries of Kalikesam and Pechiperai sites.
Infrastructure for eco-tourism is already being developed in Kalikesam. Tribals belonging to the Kani community, living in 47 settlements in Kalikesam, will be appointed as eco-tourism guides. They will also cook local cuisine for the tourists. Continue reading Tamil Nadu to promote eco-tourism →
Kedarnath gets tourism boost
October 18 (TravelAndy): After the devastating flash floods of 2013, Kedarnath in India’s Uttarakhand is set to be reconstructed with amenities for tourism, said reports.
Uttarakhand has planned 20 development projects for this popular pilgrimage and trekking route in the Garhwal Himalayas.

Tourists return to Nepal’s Khumbu
October 17 (TravelAndy): Tourism activities in Nepal’s popular Khumbu region have started to recover after being badly hit by the devastating earthquake of April 25, said a report in Kathmandu Post.
The roads that were damaged in the earthquake are being reconstructed.

SpiceJet late-night flights from Nov 2
October 16 (TravelAndy): Indian low-cost airline SpiceJet has announced its first late-night domestic flight services.
The airline will operate the late night flights, known as red-eye flights, between Delhi-Bengaluru and Delhi- Nanded (Maharashtra) from November 2, said the airline.
In the Delhi-Bangalore segment, four flights a week will take off at 1am from Delhi and arrive at 3.40am in Bengaluru. Twice-a-week flights are scheduled to leave Delhi at 11.30pm and reach Nanded at 1.25am. Continue reading SpiceJet late-night flights from Nov 2 →
Kashmir flags off Himalayan motor rally
October 15 (TavelAndy): To promote adventure tourism, the 17th Himalayan motor rally was flagged off on Wednesday, by Farooq Ahmad Shah, secretary tourism of Jammu and Kashmir state in India, said reports.
The rally commenced on October 11 from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Before arriving at Srinagar, the rally had already covered places including Delhozi, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah. It reached Srinagar on October 13 via Sinthan Top.

From lighthouse to tourist attraction
October 14 (TravelAndy): The Indian government is chalking out a plan to transform 78 lighthouses across India, into tourism centres.
The identified lighthouses for this are located in Gujarat, Maharashtra, Goa, Karnataka, Kerala, Lakshadweep, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry, Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, West Bengal and Andaman and Nicobar Islands, said an official statement.
There are plans to using land adjacent to the light houses to develop hotels, resorts, viewing galleries, maritime museums and heritage museums, adventure sports facilities, thematic restaurants, souvenir shops, laser shows, spa and rejuvenation centres, amphitheatres and other facilities to attract tourists. Tourism plans for Nellore
October 13 (TravelAndy): India’s Andhra Pradesh state has decided to develop its Nellore district as a coastal tourism circuit, said The Hindu.
This initiative is a part of Swadesh Darshan scheme started by the Union government. Under this scheme, tourist circuits and heritage spots are beautified and renovated.

Spring Airlines to fly Changchun-Bangkok
October 12 (TravelAndy): China-based low-cost Spring Airlines is set to start direct flights between Changchun city, the capital of Jilin province, and Bangkok, said reports.
Four flights a week will operate on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays, the airline said.

Telangana chalks tourism plans
October 11 (TravelAndy): India’s youngest state Telangana, which came into existence on June 2, 2014, is planning a major facelift of monuments and temples before the Krishna Pushkaralu river festival from August 12 to 23 next year.
In an effort to put the south Indian state on the tourism map of the country, the Telangana government has decided to renovate its popular tourist spots along the bank of river Krishna in Mahabubnagar and Nalgonda districts, said reports.
Temples in Chandampet Mandal in Nalgonda district, about 130km from Hyderabad will be renovated. The historical Devarakonda fort that dates back to the twelfth century, is also on the list of monuments to be repaired before the festival. Continue reading Telangana chalks tourism plans →
Mottamala set to be a tourist spot
October 9 (TravelAndy): Mottamala, a hill station in Kerala, India is set to become a new tourist attraction soon, reported The Hindu.
Situated in the eastern border area of Palakkad district in Kerala, Mottamala had lost its attraction due to excessive deforestation over the past two decades.
