Alliance Air to fly Delhi-Shimla from April 27

April 26 (TravelAndy): Air India’s subsidiary Alliance Air will operate a Delhi-Shimla-Delhi flight from April 27.

This initiative is taken to enhance tourist footfall in Shimla, the popular hill station in north India’s Himachal Pradesh state.

“On the Delhi-Shimla leg, we will carry 35 passengers while on the return only 15 passengers will be able to fly. The government will compensate for the loss with a Viability Gap Funding of about INR3,000 per seat,” Alliance Air CEO C.S. Subbiah told The Hindu. Continue Reading →

Indian Railways launches tiger circuit train

June 6 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways flagged off its first tiger circuit train from Delhi’s Safdargunj station yesterday.

“The train with a 5 days/6 nights itinerary will start from Delhi’s Sufdarjung railway station and travel via Katani, Jabalpur, Bandhavgadh, Kanha,” said the statement issued by Indian Railways.

This tourist train, with semi luxury facilities, will allow visitors entry to both Kanha and Bandhavgarh national parks in Madhya Pradesh. Continue Reading →

Vistara to fly Delhi-Kolkata from June 10

rp_dscn0963-300x215.jpgMay 21 (TravelAndy): Vistara, a Tata Sons and Singapore Airlines joint venture carrier, is set to start two Kolkata-Delhi flights every day from June 10, 2016.

The first will depart from Delhi at 7.20 and reach Kolkata at 9.30. The second daily flight will depart from Delhi at 17.55 and reach Kolkata at 20.10.

The return flights will leave Kolkata at 10.15 and 20.50 and reach Delhi at 12.50 and 23.15 respectively.

The flights will operate on all days of the week except Sundays.

Jet Airways to fly Amsterdam from March 27

The flight is scheduled to depart from Mumbai at 02.25 and arrive in Amsterdam at 08.15. On the return trip, the flight will leave Amsterdam at 11.20 and reach Mumbai at 23.55.

From Delhi airport, the flight will depart at 02.35 and reach Amsterdam at 08.00. The return flight will leave Amsterdam at 11.40 and land in Delhi at 23.20. Continue Reading →

Delhi to develop eco tourism destination

Logo squareDecember 2 (TravelAndy): The Garhi Mandu forest in Delhi is set to become an eco-tourism destination, said reports.

Delhi’s environment minister, Imran Hussain, along with senior officers of Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation (DTTDC), inspected the forest situated in the bank of river Yamuna in Wazirabad village, Delhi.

Indonesia plans direct flights to India

Garuda, Indonesia’s flagship carrier, is chalking out these flights from next year, said reports, quoting the country’s consul-general Saut Siringoringo.

Spanish trains await India debut

rp_DSCN0415-300x225.jpgJuly 25 (TravelAndy): The Indian government has given an in-principle nod to Madrid-based locomotive makers Talgo to trial run their lighter and faster trains on the Mumbai-Delhi railway route.

 

If the plan works out, this could potentially decrease the train travel time between the two cities to 12 hours from the current 17.

The shipping process of trains from Spain to India awaits an official go-ahead from India, said Talgo CEO Jose Maria Oriol after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Continue Reading →

Delhi-Toronto direct flight from Nov 1

The airline will use its new Dreamliner aircraft on this route and plans to operate four flights a week initially.

The flight will depart from the Canadian city at 8.55pm Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays and landing in the Indian capital at 9.15pm, the next day. Continue Reading →
