Bali is set to become the next Bangkok for Indians
Of all Indians who have been outside the country for travel — not work but travel — a very large percentage has been to Thailand.
The reasons for this are not hard to understand. Bangkok is only a few hours away — almost always a direct flight — and the country is not that costly and this works well for India’s middle class looking to travel abroad.

Law against tourist harass on cards
May 11 (TravelAndy): The state government in India’s Uttar Pradesh state is planning to introduce a law that will make harassing tourists a punishable offence, said The Asian Age.
Tourists, especially foreigners, are often bothered by tourist guides, beggars and autorickshaw drivers among other people in and around tourist spots. The government wants to put an end to this because it feels this reflects badly on the image of the state.
“Foreign tourists, in particular, are not used to such behaviour and get upset about it. We have received feedback about this and are work towards solving the problem,” the report quoted a government official as saying. Continue reading Law against tourist harass on cards
The tourist-traveller fight makes no sense
Not very long ago, there was this group of pictures widely shared on social media. It was a travel company that made them and shared them initially on their Facebook page. These guys differentiated between a tourist and a traveller and sought to emphasise how they helped you explore a place like a traveller and not a tourist.

Bangkok tourism feels blast heat
August 21 (TravelAndy): The tourism industry in Bangkok is feeling the heat in the wake of the deadly bombing in the Thai capital on August 17 that killed 20 people and wounded around 130.
Security has been tightened in the city which has started to see a large number of booking cancellations by jittery tourists.
