I took an overnight Scania bus from Ahmedabad to Mumbai. Here’s how it went
Earlier this year, my Ahmedabad to Mumbai journey by an overnight bus happened at very short notice.
My Plan A had been to go to Kutch with a friend. When the friend became unavailable, I did not want to visit Kutch alone and decided to head to Mumbai. Looking at options, I realised I didn’t want to pay that much money for the short flight and train tickets weren’t available. Bus seemed like the best choice.
I did not choose the cheapest option, which was be less than INR 500. I was not expecting a sound sleep, but I did expect a somewhat comfortable rest, which is why I chose an air-conditioned sleeper Scania coach operated by Chirag Travel Company. New Mumbai-Delhi Rajdhani Express hits tracks
New Delhi (TAN): The Indian Railways has introduced another Rajdhani Express between Mumbai and Delhi, which was flagged off by Railways Minister Piyush Goyal on January 19 this year.
The third Rajdhani Express on this route, the train will connect Delhi’s Hazrat Nizamuddin with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) in Mumbai twice every week.
Starting its journey from Mumbai, the train will stop at Kalyan, Nasik, Jalgaon, Khandwa, Bhopal, Jhansi, and Agra Cantonment stations before arriving at Hazrat Nizamuddin station in Delhi.

First direct flight between India & Indonesia
December 18 (TravelAndy): Indonesia’s flagship carrier, Garuda Indonesia, has started the first direct flight between India and Indonesia.
The thrice-a-week flight operates between Mumbai and Jakarta with a stopover in Bangkok on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

8 railway stations in Mumbai get free Wi-Fi
August 24 (TravelAndy): To make rail stations passenger friendly, Indian Railways is progressing with its drive to launch free Wi-Fi in the several rail stations across the country.
Under this initiative, eight new stations in Mumbai were made Wi-Fi enabled on Tuesday.

Safe selfie awareness drive in Maharashtra
May 4 (TravelAndy): Stay safe while taking selfies. That’s what the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is trying to teach people visiting tourist spots in the west Indian state.
The move comes following incidents of people getting injured or even killed while taking selfies.

Jet Airways to fly Amsterdam from March 27
March 14 (TravelAndy): Jet Airways is all set to operate daily non-stop flight to Amsterdam from Delhi and Mumbai, from March 27.
The flight is scheduled to depart from Mumbai at 02.25 and arrive in Amsterdam at 08.15. On the return trip, the flight will leave Amsterdam at 11.20 and reach Mumbai at 23.55.

Mumbai to get air-conditioned local trains
February 13 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways will run its first fully air-conditioned local train in Mumbai, DNA reported.
The train is expected to be brought to Mumbai for its trial run in the first week of March.

January 21 (TravelAndy): South Africa will host four road shows in Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, and Kolkata to attract Indian tourists, said reports.
As a part of South Africa’s ‘Made for India in South Africa’ campaign, 50 off-beat destinations in South Africa will be promoted for the first time in India.

Copter ride over Mumbai from Jan 18
January 17 (TravelAndy): Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) will resume its popular helicopter joyride over Mumbai from Monday.
The helicopter will fly at 700 feet above the sea level, allowing visitors a panoramic view of the Mumbai coastline.

Jet Airways to fly non-stop to Amsterdam
December 14 (TravelAndy): Jet Airways will start daily non-stop flights to Amsterdam in Netherlands from March 27, said reports.
Two daily flights will fly to Amsterdam, one each from Mumbai and New Delhi.

Indonesia plans direct flights to India
November 29 (TravelAndy): Indonesia is planning to start direct flights to India.
Garuda, Indonesia’s flagship carrier, is chalking out these flights from next year, said reports, quoting the country’s consul-general Saut Siringoringo.
