IRCTC publishes train food rates for awareness
March 21 (TravelAndy): The Indian Railway Catering & Tourism Corporation Ltd. recently published a food chart with official rates to make passengers aware.
Passengers on Indian Railways often complain how unscrupulous employees charge them more than the official rate for food on trains.

IRCTC announces special tour on Diwali
October 22 (TravelAndy): Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) is organising a special tour this Diwali.
A special tourist train will leave Madurai in India’s southern Tamil Nadu state, on October 25 at 00.05.

Free pilgrimage trains for seniors
September 8 (TravelAndy): Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), along with Jharkhand Tourism Development Corporation (JTDC), has agreed to start a free pilgrimage trip for senior citizens below poverty line in Jharkhand.
Two special trains are expected torun between Hatia in Jharkhand and the pilgrim town of Puri in Odisha, which will ferry approximately 1,000 pilgrims, every month, said The Times of India (TOI)

Indian Railways launches tiger circuit train
June 6 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways flagged off its first tiger circuit train from Delhi’s Safdargunj station yesterday.
“The train with a 5 days/6 nights itinerary will start from Delhi’s Sufdarjung railway station and travel via Katani, Jabalpur, Bandhavgadh, Kanha,” said the statement issued by Indian Railways.

IRCTC ties up with OYO rooms
February 24 (TravelAndy): Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has tied up with standard budget accommodation aggregator OYO rooms.
Rooms listed on OYO are now available for booking on the IRCTC website.

Copter ride over Mumbai from Jan 18
January 17 (TravelAndy): Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC) will resume its popular helicopter joyride over Mumbai from Monday.
The helicopter will fly at 700 feet above the sea level, allowing visitors a panoramic view of the Mumbai coastline.

Book train bedroll online and take it home
December 10 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways has introduced a takeaway e-bedroll system.
Reports said travellers can now buy their bedrolls online through the website of Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC). The bedrolls can also be availed from the designated food plazas and fast food units of IRCTC.

Railways to run special winter tours
November 24 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways is launching two special trains to boost desert and heritage tourism in the country.
Operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), both the semi-luxury trains will depart from New Delhi. The train designated for the desert circuit will cover the popular tourist cities of Jaiselmer and Jaipur in Rajasthan. The train assigned for the heritage tour will cover Varanasi, Khajuraho and Agra.
The desert circuit train will begin service by mid-December and conclude by April 21. The heritage circuit train will begin service on December 20. It’s last trip of the season will begin on April 24. Continue reading Railways to run special winter tours
Indian Railways starts e-catering service
October 31 (TravelAndy): In order to provide hygienic and quality food to train passengers, Indian Railways has launched e-catering service in 45 stations and 1,516 trains through Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation Ltd (IRCTC).
IRCTC is a subsidiary of the Indian Railways and handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing operations of the railways.

Free pilgrimage for seniors
September 17 (TravelAndy): The Uttar Pradesh state government in India has planned to conduct a free trip to Tirupati in Andhra Pradesh and Rameswaram in Tamil Nadu for native senior citizens, said reports.
The pilgrimage tour will be conducted through Indian Railways Catering and Tourism Corporation between November 26 to December 4.

Single bus-train tickets for travellers
September 8 (TravelAndy): As a first of its kind in India, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) have joined hands to start integrated online ticketing system for travellers, reported the Times of India.
This is an attempt to reach out to destinations inaccessible by train and also to facilitate travel for tourists who prefer road trips.

Indian Railways plans one-stop travel shop
June 28 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways has announced to open a single-window solution to all travel-related issues for customers, reports said.
This facility will come up at Connaught Place in New Delhi.
Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC), the Indian Railways subsidiary that handles the catering, tourism and online ticketing, said the facility would take care of all rail, land transport, air tour packages for both domestic and international travellers.
