Ice-climbing event at Pahalgam

December 31 (TravelAndy): The north Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir is holding an ice climbing event  in Pahalgam, said reports.

The tourism department of the northern most state of India, in collaboration with J&K Mountaineering and Hiking Club, identified Aru valley and Chandanwari glaciers in Pahalgam for the event.

Around 12 trained mountaineers are taking part in the event.

Climbers are provided with all the required equipment by the tourism department.

This initiative is the first of its kind in the state.
