Bicycle highway to connect Agra and Etawah
May 12 (TravelAndy): To encourage eco-tourism, India’s Uttar Pradesh state has decided to construct a 197 KM long bicycle highway from Taj Mahal in Agra to Lion’s Safari in Etawah, said reports.p
The first of its kind in India, this bicycle highway along the Agra-Etawah main road will cover many important tourist spots.
Beginning from the eastern gate of Taj Mahal, it will run along tourist spots including Raja Bhoj ki Haveli, Bateshwarnath Temple, Mela Kothi Jarar, Naugava ka Quila and village areas that lead to the lion safari in Etawah. Continue reading Bicycle highway to connect Agra and Etawah
Taj Mahal fest on in Agra
February 19 (TravelAndy): Uttar Pradesh started its annual 10-day Taj Mahotsav in Agra yesterday.
Taj Mahotsav is a celebration of the Taj Mahal, one of the wonders of the world and India’s most popular tourism destination. Started in the year 1992, this festival will celebrate its 25th edition this year.

Railways to run special winter tours
November 24 (TravelAndy): Indian Railways is launching two special trains to boost desert and heritage tourism in the country.
Operated by Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation Limited (IRCTC), both the semi-luxury trains will depart from New Delhi. The train designated for the desert circuit will cover the popular tourist cities of Jaiselmer and Jaipur in Rajasthan. The train assigned for the heritage tour will cover Varanasi, Khajuraho and Agra.
The desert circuit train will begin service by mid-December and conclude by April 21. The heritage circuit train will begin service on December 20. It’s last trip of the season will begin on April 24. Continue reading Railways to run special winter tours
Free entry to Taj Mahal & more
September 27 (TravelAndy): On the occasion of World Tourism Day today, the Indian government has declared free entry for tourists to 200 ticketed monuments and museums across India, said reports.
Mahesh Sharma, the minister of state for culture, said that the government was taking several initiatives to attract tourists.

Taj Mahal debuts on Twitter
August 15 (TravelAndy): Taj Mahal made its debut on Twitter on the occasion of India’s Independence Day on Saturday.
The handle — @TajMahal — calls itself the official Twitter handle of the “world’s most loved monument” and displays a link to the Uttar Pradesh tourism website.
