Tourists in New York City line up to visit Manhattan night court
New York City (TAN): Visitors to NYC are engaging in a new activity — spending time at the night court in Manhattan, reports news.com.au.
Lonely Planet describes the experience as “underground and unique”.
According to New York law, anyone arrested in the city has to be produced in front of a judge within 24 hours. Consequently, the night court is essential in clearing the backlog of cases. The court runs till 1am now but earlier when crime was higher, there used to be another shift from 1-9am, police said. Peter Pan kicks off new bus service for Cape Cod
Springfield, MA (TAN): Peter Pan Bus Lines started a new bus service connecting Cape Cod to multiple destinations in northeastern United States from January 16.
The service will link 15 points on Cape Cod including Provincetown, Hyannis, Barnstable, Sagamore, Orleans, and Harwich to cities such as Boston, New York City, Philadelphia, Baltimore, and Washington D.C., among several others.
Talking about the initiative, Peter A. Picknelly, chairman and chief executive officer, Peter Pan Bus Lines, said: “We are very pleased to expand our routes on Cape Cod. Our modern fleet, with free Wi-Fi and charging stations, can now connect passengers from Provincetown (and other major locations) to Hyannis, Boston Logan Airport, NYC and the entire northeast. Everyone’s holiday favourite ‘The Nutcracker’ alone is all set to be presented in a variety of forms. One can catch ‘George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker’, running since 1954, at New York City Ballet through December 30, or New York Theater Ballet’s one-hour version at Florence Gould Hall between December 14 and 16. While Mark Morris’s Pop Arty ‘The Hard Nut’ will show from December 14 to 23, Ditto Company XIV’s burlesque ‘Nutcracker Rouge’ will run through Jan 13, 2019. ‘The Bang Group: Nut/Cracked’ from December 20 to 22, ‘Los Nutcrackers: A Christmas Carajo’ through December 15, and ‘Micro-Nutcracker’ on December 16 are some of the deconstructed takes on the classic.
Spectaculars are a tradition the city adores, and the Rockettes return to the Radio City Music Hall with their annual ‘Christmas Spectacular’, to run through January 1, 2019. ‘A Harlemettes Holiday’, a pageant produced by the Harlem School of Arts will run from December 14 to 16.

New York eyes new landmark in 2018
September 20 (TravelAndy): Just like Chicago has its Cloud Gate, New York City will have its very own Vessel in two years.
Vessel is being billed as “the centerpiece for the largest development in New York City since the Rockefeller Center”. Architecture firm Heatherwick Studio is building it. It is scheduled to be ready in Autumn 2018.
Unlike the Cloud Gate, the Vessel will not be a structure just to look at. The architects intend to create a landmark “every inch of which could be climbed and explored”. Continue reading New York eyes new landmark in 2018
