Chandigarh-Leh road trip to get shorter
June 21 (TravelAndy): Road trip from Chandigarh to Leh in India’s Jammu and Kashmir state is going to get faster.
Several road tunnels are going to be developed along this route, which is expected to reduce the journey time by approximately 3 hours, reported The Business Standard.
Along this route, the 310 kmvstretch between Chandigarh and Manali will be reduced by 30 Km. This will be made possible by construction of five tunnels across Kiratpur in Punjab and Ner Chawk in Himachal Pradesh. Continue reading Chandigarh-Leh road trip to get shorter
Vehicle ban hits Manali tourism
December 4 (TravelAndy): Tourism in Manali has been affected after National Green Tribune (NGT) re-imposed its ban on taxies and private cars ferrying tourists across the Manali-Rohtang highway, The Times of India said.
NGT restored its ban after three months of relaxation, which ended on November 30.

Manali-Leh highway closes for 2015
November 3 (TravelAndy): Following heavy snow fall in Rohtang Pass and Baralacha in India’s Himachal Pradesh, the Manali-Leh highway has been officially closed, said The Times of India.
Rohtang Pass, the gateway between Himachal Pradesh and the Ladakh Himalayas in Jammu and Kashmir, will be closed for tourist vehicles after November 15.

Kashmir flags off Himalayan motor rally
October 15 (TavelAndy): To promote adventure tourism, the 17th Himalayan motor rally was flagged off on Wednesday, by Farooq Ahmad Shah, secretary tourism of Jammu and Kashmir state in India, said reports.
The rally commenced on October 11 from Manali in Himachal Pradesh. Before arriving at Srinagar, the rally had already covered places including Delhozi, Kishtwar and Bhaderwah. It reached Srinagar on October 13 via Sinthan Top.
Starting off from Srinagar, the rally will head for Drass, Sanku via Amballa pass to Rangdum. With favourable conditions, the rally is expected return on October 16. Continue reading Kashmir flags off Himalayan motor rally

Adjectives pitter-patter like a steady drizzle during my chat with three friends who have just returned from a trip to Ladakh in north India.

Burua hope for Manali paragliders
August 30 (TravelAndy): Paragliders have discovered a new place to resume their sport after National Green Tribunal (NGT) banned paragliding in Manali’s adventure tourist spot Solang valley, reported The Times of India (TOI).
Burua village, seven kilometers from Manali, is poised to be a perfect destination for paragliders and adventure tourists. With a wider valley, Burua can apparently accommodate more gliders than Solang.

Manali strike boon for Shimla
May 24 (TravelAndy): A taxi strike in the popular hill station Manali in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh is diverting tourists to another hill station in the same state — Shimla.
According to a report in the Hindustan Times newspaper, Shimla Hoteliers and Restaurant Association president Harnam Kukreja said the rush to Shimla and its nearby places had increased because many tourists had been forced to change their plans of going to Manali.
