Madhya Pradesh celebrates folk heritage with ‘Lokrang Samaroh’
Bhopal (TAN): The Indian state of Madhya Pradesh, like the past 20 years, is hosting Lokrang Samaroh amid much grandeur this year from January 26 to 30.
Bhopal, the state capital, happens to be the venue of five-day cultural carnival.
Organised by the Directorate of Culture and Madhya Pradesh Tribal Museum, Lokrang Samaroh is an annual tribute to the spectacular folk and indigenous traditions of the country through cultural performances spanning from performing arts to art and craft exhibitions. If you love horses, you must visit Chetak Festival
December 21 (TravelAndy): If you have an eye for equestrian beauty, as well as an appetite for adventure, Maharashtra’s Sarangkheda is the perfect destination for you this winter. Sarangkheda village in Nandurbar district, like the past 300 years, will host ‘Chetak Festival’ through January 8, 2019, to celebrate the best horse breeds, and the legacy surrounding them.
Datta Jayanti Festival marks the beginning of the festival on the banks of the Tapi River, that is said to have been visited by the great Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Visitors get a chance to experience over 2,300 magnificent horses of five breeds participate in races, shows, and competitions during the month-long festival, organised by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and Sarangkheda Committee.

Rajasthan calls for celebrating winter like royals
December 12 (TravelAndy): A nip in the air, and the land of the maharajas beckons one and all to join in its rich festivities — Ranakpur Festival, Winter Festival at Mount Abu, Camel Festival, Kite Festival, and Jaipur Literature Fest, all to be held in the chilly months of December 2018, and January 2019.
Ranakpur, located in the district of Pali, is all set to host the annual Ranakpur Festival, organised by the Department of Tourism, Rajasthan, on December 21 and 22. One of the most loved festivals of the state, it takes visitors, both local and international, to a journey to the depths of the local art and culture through fun activities. The winter nights come alive with cultural performances at the open-air amphitheatre at the Sun Temple, while daytime sees nature hikes at the foothills of the Aravalli range, along with hot air ballooning, tours of the Ranakpur Jain temple, and yoga sessions.
Mount Abu’s Winter Festival will see thousands pouring in from all corners of the world on December 29 and 30, like every year. The festival offers an intimate insight into Rajasthan’s rich heritage — gorgeous handicrafts, scrumptious food, literature, eye-catching performances, even kite-flying and rowing contests, all set against the stunning background of Mount Abu. While the festival kicks off with a magnificent procession, it ends with floating of earthen lamps in the water, a tradition known as ‘Deepdaan’, in the evening, followed by a fantastic display of fireworks.

Scottish Clans inspire youth to celebrate local traditions
August 4 (TravelAndy): Over the summer months, Scottish Clans are putting the root of their very own definition front and centre by inviting young members, local young people and families to participate, engage and learn about Scottish history and heritage, as well as local traditions and culture.
The Clans, the name being derived from the Gaelic word ‘clann’ and meaning children,are joining the celebrations for Scotland’s Year of Young People 2018 with an exciting programme of activities at their international and national gatherings across the country.
Clan Hay will be hosting Tartan Ties 2018 from 3 to 5 August. On 3 August, they are inviting visitors to a highly anticipated Medieval Banquet in Ballater – a fantastic chance to savour the sounds, sights and music of medieval Scotland, including a delicious hog roast and top class music from Paul Anderson and Shona Donaldson. Young people are designing and crafting medieval items which will be on display at the banquet and will also participate in a challenging haggis hunt in Crathes Castle during the afternoon. Three-day Judima festival begins in Assam
December 19 (TravelAndy): India’s Assam state is hosting the second edition of ‘Judima Festival’ in its hill town Halflong in Dima Hasao district from December 18 to 20.
The name ‘Judima’ comes from a local brew of rice wine, which is available during the festival for tourists to taste.

Hornbill festival from Dec 1
November 28 (TravelAndy): The Hornbill Festival is scheduled to be held from December 1- 10, 2016 in Kisama village in northeastern India’s Nagaland state.
This festival celebrates the heritage, culture, music and livelihood of the tribes from in and around Nagaland.

Goa: Vintage bike and car fest on Oct 1
September 15 (TravelAndy): India’s beach state Goa is set to start a vintage bike and car festival on October 1.
Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is organising this event with more than 50 vintage vehicles (cars and bikes) that will roll across Panaji, the capital of Goa, on October 1.
The rally will begin from Paryatan Bhavan in Patto at 10.30am. Then the vehicles will run across the city to Dona Paula and finally wind up its journey at Inox Courtyard, where it will be stationed for display from 12noon to 6pm. Continue reading Goa: Vintage bike and car fest on Oct 1
