After 5-year gap, Biman resumes Dhaka-Delhi direct flight
Dhaka (TAN): Bangladesh’s flagship airline Biman resumed its nonstop flight services between Dhaka and India’s capital Delhi on Tuesday.
State minister for civil aviation and tourism Md. Mahbub Ali inaugurated the service in Dhaka before the maiden flight departed Hajrat Shahjalal International Airport for Delhi with 152 passengers.
He said in Bengali: “I’m happy that flights between Dhaka and Delhi have resumed after being unavailable for the past few years. Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus starts
April 9 (TravelAndy): To facilitate travel between India and Bangladesh, a Kolkata-Khulna-Dhaka bus service was flagged off from Kolkata yesterday.
This is a part of several initiatives being taken to strengthen bilateral relations and provide better tourism, road and rail connectivity for citizens of both India and Bangladesh. (Also read: Kolkata budget travel guide)

Istanbul-Dhaka railway route on the table
March 21 (TravelAndy): The proposal for an Istanbul to Dhaka railway route was discussed at a two-day meeting attended by the representatives of more than 11 countries in New Delhi last week.
The meeting on “Strengthening Railway Transport Connectivity in South and South West Asia” was organised by United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in co-ordination with Organization for Cooperation between Railways (OSJD) and the Indian railway ministry.
Discussions were held to strengthen the rail transport and provide connectivity to the countries in South Asia and South East Asia. Among the countries that took part in the meeting are Afghanistan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, Myanmar, Iran, Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkey and India. Plans to restore Dhaka-Darjeeling rail link
March 21 (TravelAndy): In order to enhance cross border tourism and trade, India and Bangladesh is looking to restore rail link between Darjeeling and Dhaka.
The rail route between Darjeeling, the hill town in India’s West Bengal state and Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, will be restored after 52 years, since it was severed during India-Pakistan war in 1965, Mujibul Haque, Bangladesh railway minister, told the Dhaka Tribune.

Air India Express to fly Delhi-Dhaka
February 10 (TravelAndy): Air India Express, the low-cost wings of India’s flagship carrier Air India, has announced a new flight between Delhi and Dhaka, commencing from February 16.
Four flights a week will travel between the capital of India and that of Bangladesh, said the airline.

Gulf Air to start Manama-Dhaka flight
April 28 (TravelAndy): Gulf Air has decided to start direct flight services between Bahrain’ capital city Manama and Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, from May 30, said reports.
The five-times-a week flight will depart from Manama either at 0100 or 2010 and reach Dhaka either at 0930 or 0440.

Kolkata-Dhaka-Agartala bus cuts travel time
June 7 (TravelAndy): Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his Bangladesh counterpart Sheikh Hasina flagged off a bus service connecting the Indian states of West Bengal and Tripura via Dhaka on Saturday.
West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee was also present at the event in the Bangladesh capital.
