December 24 (TravelAndy): British Airways has announced a new route from London City Airport to Split in Croatia, which will start operating next year.
The airline has planned to connect the Croatian city to the Docklands airport with three flights a week during the summer months of June through September.
While British Airways already operates flights between Heathrow Airport and Split, flights from London City Airport to Croatia will be introduced for the first time.
Luke Hayhoe, general manager commercial and customer, British Airways, said they have been looking at new route and additional frequency possibilities with the arrival of their new aircraft next year, and that it was a natural addition to the summer leisure schedule.
“Split is the second largest city in Croatia and is becoming increasingly popular with customers looking for an alternative holiday destination or who are joining a cruise ship”, he added.
Richard Hill, chief commercial officer, London City Airport, said, “for the first time ever, London City Airport will offer a connection to Croatia, and the increasingly popular town of Split — a fascinating gateway to the idyllic Dalmation coast.”
Each-way hand baggage only fares, based on a return trip, will start from GBP75.
The airline will raise the frequency of flights between Heathrow Airport and Split from five to seven flights per week in 2019.
British Airways plans to invest GBP6.5 billion over the next five years to enhance customer satisfaction.
