IndiGo joins fare war, offers tickets from INR888
October 5 (TravelAndy): India-based low-cost carrier IndiGo has joined the fare war and is offering tickets for as low as INR888, the airline said.
Passengers need to book before October 8, 2016 for travel till April 13, 2017 to avail of this offer, which is available on select sectors and select flights.

Budget airline French Blue takes flight
September 14 (TravelAndy): Paris Orly based low cost airline French Blue has started its debut service with flights operating between Paris Orly in France and Punta Cana in Dominican Republic.
This new low cost airline will operate thrice a week flight on the Paris Orly-Punta Cana route, facilitating travel between Paris and the Caribbean.

Budget airlines increase excess baggage fees
July 23 (TravelAndy): India’s low cost airlines GoAir, Indigo and AirAsia India have increased excess baggage fees, following a government directive to rationalise excess baggage, said reports.
Passengers travelling in these three airlines will have to pay INR300 for every kilogram of luggage in excess of 20kg, confirmed the websites of the airlines. Earlier, this charge was INR250.
At present, all domestic carriers, except Air India, allow a free check-in luggage of 15kg.
India’s flagship carrier Air India allows passengers to carry 25kg of free check-in luggage.
GoAir offers tickets at INR849
June 30 (TravelAndy): Indian budget carrier, GoAir has announced a discount offer on its domestic routes, with one-way fares starting from INR849, which includes the base fare and fuel surcharge.
Booking under this offer is valid till July 2, midnight, for a travel period of July 1 to September 30, said the airline.

Fastjet to fly Kenya-Tanzania from Jan 11
January 8 (TravelAndy): Fastjet, a low-cost airline operating in Africa, will start operating between Tanzania and Kenya from January 11.
The flight will operate between Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro in Tanzania to Nairobi, the capital of Kenya.

Air Asia fares from INR990
August 10 (TravelAndy): Budget airline Air Asia announced on Monday that it had achieved the milestone of having flown 300 million passengers and said it was offering fares from INR990 to celebrate the occasion.
Air Asia India itself has flown one million passengers, said reports.

EasyJet adds 6 more seats to its A320s
May 17 (TravelAndy): Luton-based budget airline EasyJet will add an extra row to all its current and future A320 aircraft, increasing the number of seats from 180 to 186.

NewLeaf eyes Hamilton hub
April 17 (TravelAndy): Proposed Canada-based ultra low-cost airline NewLeaf Travel intends to make Hamilton a hub, said CBC.
“The idea is that we are trying to lower the airfares,” said former Frontier vice-president and chief marketing officer of NewLeaf Jim Young. “We don’t like high-cost airports like Vancouver, Calgary, (Toronto) Pearson.”
Young said they had partnered with the existing Flair Airlines Ltd, which is based in Kelownam BC, to supply aircraft and crew.
NewLeaf is looking to start operations this summer.
With NewLeaf, three new players are now attempting to enter the ultra low-cost flying segment in Canada.
Canada: New ultra low-cost airline proposed
April 13 (Travelandy): A former executive of the US-based Frontier Airlines has proposed to launch an ultra low-cost airline based in Canada, the Globe and Mail reported.
The new airline, operated by the NewLeaf Travel Co. Inc, will operate from two secondary airports at Hamilton and Abbotsford and will look to fly to beach destinations in the US.
Former Frontier vice-president and chief marketing officer Jim Young said they had partnered with the existing Flair Airlines Ltd, which is based in Kelownam BC, to supply aircraft and crew.
“Our goal is to stay out of the large primary airports and focus on secondary airports because they represent lower-cost opportunities for us,” the report quoted Young as saying.
With NewLeaf, three new players are now attempting to enter the ultra low-cost flying segment in Canada.
