To promote adventure tourism, the state tourism authorities have decided host the ‘Indian Open for Surfing’ at Mangaluru from May 27 to 29.

Mangaluru’s Sasihithlu beach will be the stage for the competition, The Hindu Businessline said.

Some 60 participants have already registered for the event. Forty more are expected to join in.

Karnataka tourism, in association with the Surfing Federation of India, are organising this event to showcase the sea beaches of Karnataka as popular surfing destinations.

With a favourable weather forecast, the surfing contest is expected to become a success.

Former South African cricket stalwart Jhonty Rhodes and Bollywood actor Suniel Shetty are expected to attend the event.
