December 21 (TravelAndy): If you have an eye for equestrian beauty, as well as an appetite for adventure, Maharashtra’s Sarangkheda is the perfect destination for you this winter. Sarangkheda village in Nandurbar district, like the past 300 years, will host ‘Chetak Festival’ through January 8, 2019, to celebrate the best horse breeds, and the legacy surrounding them.
Datta Jayanti Festival marks the beginning of the festival on the banks of the Tapi River, that is said to have been visited by the great Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji.
Visitors get a chance to experience over 2,300 magnificent horses of five breeds participate in races, shows, and competitions during the month-long festival, organised by the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. and Sarangkheda Committee.

Chikaldara tourism fest from Feb 12
January 8 (TravelAndy): India’s Maharashtra state will celebrate its Chikhaldara tourism festival from February 12 to 18.
The event, which used to be a three-day one earlier, will this year but from this year it is slated to be a 7 day fest, said The Times of India.

Nepal is hosting elephant fest to revive tourism
December 28 (TravelAndy): Nepal is hosting its annual Chitwan elephant festival, to revive tourism in the Himalayan valley, said reports.
The five-day festival, which kicked off on December 26, 2017, will display activities and adventures involving elephants.

Go scuba diving in Karnataka this winter
October 24 (TravelAndy): India’s Karnataka state in going to start underwater sports off Netrani Island, situated off the beaches of Uttara Kannada district, said The New Indian Express.
Adventure activities like Scuba diving and snorkeling are slated to begin in Netrani from Decemebr this year.

Plan a mine visit in Jharkhand next year
September 13 (TravelAndy): India’s Jharkhand state is planning to implement major tourism development across the state, by next year.
The iron ore mines in Kiriburu and Meghatuburu in East Singbhum district are going to be made accessible to the tourists by 2017, said The Times of India (TOI).

Surfing contest at Karnataka beach
May 15 (TravelAndy): Are you a surfer? It’s time you booked a ticket to South India’s Karnataka state.
To promote adventure tourism, the state tourism authorities have decided host the ‘Indian Open for Surfing’ at Mangaluru from May 27 to 29.

Adventure sports banned at Rohtang Pass
May 10 (TravelAndy): The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has issued fresh orders prohibiting all adventure sports at Rohtang Pass in north India’s Himachal Pradesh state.
To prevent further degradation of the ecologically-sensitive Rohtang Pass, the tribunal order suspended the plying of snow scooters, paragliding and similar sports in the area.

River fest kicks off in Arunachal Pradesh
January 23 (TravelAndy): A three-day river festival has begun along the river Kameng in India’s northeastern state, Arunachal Pradesh.
Pacha Morang village in Seppa district of Arunachal Pradesh has been identified as the festival venue.

Goa set for Sunburn festival from Dec 27
December 19 (TravelAndy): Goa is set to host Sunburn Goa, touted as Asia’s largest electronic dance music festival from December 27.
Sunburn, a popular Indian electronic music brand, in collaboration with Goa Tourism Development Corporation, is organising the three-day festival on the popular Vagator beach.

Kullu bans paragliding till Sep 15
August 2 (TravelAndy): The tourist department of the popular hill station Kullu in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh on Saturday banned paragliding in the district till September 15.
“Paragliding has been banned under Himachal Pradesh Aero Sports Rules till September 15, because in rainy season, dense fog on hilly areas may cause accidents,” said a Hindustan Times report, quoting a statement by district tourism officer Ratan Gautam.
