January 6 (TravelAndy): Canada-based budget airline Newleaf, which starts flying on February 12, will charge for carry-on luggage.
The airline is not going on third party online booking sites in order to keep costs down. It will sell tickets through its own site — Flynewleaf.ca.
The Winnipeg-headquartered airline will fly out of secondary airports at Halifax, Hamilton, Saskatoon, Kelowna, Regina, Winnipeg and Abbotsford. The costs of tickets, including taxes, are between CAD89 to CAD149.
The airline will charge CAD25 for each check-in luggage and the same for each carry-on.
Newleaf intends to compete with Air Canada and WestJet with its attractive pricing.
