15 set off to conquer Mt Needle & Pinnacle

Logo squareSeptember 18 (TravelAndy): In an attempt to promote adventure tourism in the region. the Jammu and Kashmir state government flagged off an expedition to Mount White Needle (6,600 meters) and Mount Pinnacle (6,950 meters) on Thursday.

Both the peaks are situated in the Nun-Kun massif of Kargil district in the troubled northern Indian state.

A team of 15 climbers from all over the India, including Jammu and Kashmir, set off on Thursday, said reports.

The team is being led by mountaineer Tarun Saikiar from Assam.

Chief minister Farooq Shah wished the team success and assured them off all kinds of support.

This is an initiative to make the Kashmir Himalayas visible in the national and international map of expeditions.
