December 19 (TravelAndy): Jatayu Nature Park that will be home to what is being as the world’s largest bird statue, is set for a in January 2016 opening in South India’s Kerala state.

Spreading across 65 acres amid mountains, cliffs and rock formations in Chadayamangalam in Kerala’s Kollam district, the statue of mythical bird Jatayu has been sculpted.

Jatayu is the bird that rescued Sita from Ravana in the Indian epic, Ramayana. Local folklore says that after it was struck by Ravana, the bird fell on the rock in Chadayamangalam, where the statue has been sculpted.

The Jatayu sculpture atop the hill is being touted as the world’s largest bird statue.
