Kerala Tourism woos European tourists
January 22 (TravelAndy): Kerala’s many advantages as tourism destination were on full display for the Dutch and other European travellers at the five-day Vakantiebeurs 2017, the biggest tourism trade event in the Netherlands.
Laidback cruises on serene backwaters and Ayurveda rejuvenation therapies showcased at the Kerala pavilion grabbed attention and generated several enquiries at Vakantiebeurs 2017, which was held in the city of Utrecht from January 10-15 and drew up to 108,000 visitors.
Spread over 18sqm, the Kerala pavilion marked the state’s first appearance at the trade fair which is held annually in the second week of January in Utrecht and provides a gateway to the highly promising Dutch and European markets. Continue reading Kerala Tourism woos European tourists
‘World’s largest bird statue’ in Kerala park
December 19 (TravelAndy): Jatayu Nature Park that will be home to what is being as the world’s largest bird statue, is set for a in January 2016 opening in South India’s Kerala state.
Spreading across 65 acres amid mountains, cliffs and rock formations in Chadayamangalam in Kerala’s Kollam district, the statue of mythical bird Jatayu has been sculpted.
Jatayu is the bird that rescued Sita from Ravana in the Indian epic, Ramayana. Local folklore says that after it was struck by Ravana, the bird fell on the rock in Chadayamangalam, where the statue has been sculpted. Continue reading ‘World’s largest bird statue’ in Kerala park
Mottamala set to be a tourist spot
October 9 (TravelAndy): Mottamala, a hill station in Kerala, India is set to become a new tourist attraction soon, reported The Hindu.
Situated in the eastern border area of Palakkad district in Kerala, Mottamala had lost its attraction due to excessive deforestation over the past two decades.

Hop-on-hop-off boats in Kerala
September 8 (TravelAndy): A hop-on-hop-off boat service has been introduced in the Kochi-Muziris tourism circuit of Kerala.
This boat service is a first of its kind in India.

Kerala denies dog cull decision
July 28 (TravelAndy): The tourism minister of the south Indian state of Kerala has denied allegations of the authorities planning to cull stray dogs across the state.
Over the past few weeks, Kerala has faced strong criticism on social media against its alleged decision to cull all street dogs across the state.
Animal-lover groups had been urging tourists to shun Kerala, known for its backwaters, to register their protest against the move. Rallies have been organised in Mumbai, Kolkata and other cities in protest against the alleged decision. Continue reading Kerala denies dog cull decision
