June 2 (TravelAndy): South India’s state Tamil Nadu will launch a mobile app for tourists, said The Hindu.
This app will be designed to guide tourists through the various tourist spots cross the state. For example, if a visitor is near the popular Thanjavur Big Temple, the app can guide him regarding all necessary information about the place.
Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation (TTDC) intends to develop the app in such a way that it gives fast lane access to all tourism related information and so that it can help a tourist browse and download all necessary information in the least possible time on the go.
The app is being developed in eight languages — Tamil, English, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi and French.
The app will contain an ‘Around Me’ tab, which will allow a tourist to explore a radius of 25km around a particular tourist spot, without having to stop or stumble.
All information stored in the TTDC website will be synchronised with this app, making it a comprehensive guide for a tourist, who wants to travel the city and learn details about the tourist attractions.
Along with ‘things to see’, ‘wishlist’, ‘street view’ , the app also contains audio and video aids that would enrich a tourist’s trip in the state.
The app for the entire state will be ready within an estimated span of eight months. But an exclusive app is expected to be launched by June, which will cater only to Mamallapuram (Mahabalipuram), which hosts several world heritage sites of Tamil Nadu.
