US tour operators name Italy as 2019 ‘hot’ destination
December 19 (NITN): The tour operator members of the United States Tour Operators Association (USTOA) have named Italy the most popular or “hot” destination for travellers in 2019, a recent survey by PriceWaterhouseCoopers LLP (PwC) revealed.
The top 10 “hot” destinations for the coming year also include Iceland, which ranked second, followed by Japan, Vietnam, Australia, France, Spain, Colombia, Cambodia and Portugal.
USTOA members also identified their top 10 off-the-beaten path or emerging destinations that they see gaining popularity in 2019: Iceland ranked first, Cambodia ranked second, followed by Croatia, Colombia, Vietnam, Portugal, Bhutan, Bolivia, Myanmar, and Ethiopia.

Etihad Airways launches inaugural flight to Barcelona
December 7 (NITN): Etihad Airways has launched its first ever scheduled flights linking Abu Dhabi and Barcelona.
The inaugural flight, EY49, departed Abu Dhabi earlier this week carrying a special delegation including dignitaries, media representatives, influencers and senior members of Etihad Airways’ management team.
The UAE national airline is celebrating the occasion in style by hosting a special event held at the historic Capella dels Angels, a sixteenth-century Gothic building which is now part of the Museu d’Art Contemporani de Barcelona (MACBA), attended by leading figures from the local government, diplomats, media, corporate partners and travel trade.
Tony Douglas, Group Chief Executive Officer Etihad Aviation Group, said: “We have been tremendously excited about the launch of this service and what better time to arrive here than the month Etihad celebrates its 15th anniversary.

Spanish trains await India debut
July 25 (TravelAndy): The Indian government has given an in-principle nod to Madrid-based locomotive makers Talgo to trial run their lighter and faster trains on the Mumbai-Delhi railway route.
If the plan works out, this could potentially decrease the train travel time between the two cities to 12 hours from the current 17.
The shipping process of trains from Spain to India awaits an official go-ahead from India, said Talgo CEO Jose Maria Oriol after a meeting with Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Continue reading Spanish trains await India debut
