‘The Sweater Guy’ knits sweaters of holiday spots, takes selfies
New York City (TAN): Travel can do you wonders, or at least bring out your creative best. And that’s what it did to Sam Barsky.
At age 43, Sam knits sweaters of famous global destinations, followed by travelling to the actual sites and clicking photos of himself wearing his creations.
The resident of Baltimore in the US east coast stitched his first sweater with an actual trip in mind about twenty years ago, that of the Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, and has knit 132 sweaters since.
Although the first sweater ‘of a specific landmark was the Tower Bridge in London’. “I was inspired by a picture I saw in a magazine. I had never been there before and did not make it for a specific trip. But, once I started knitting more landmarks, like the Golden Gate Bridge and Venice, I knew I wanted to go there while wearing them,” Forbes quoted him as saying.

Goa: Flags and warnings to prevent tourist deaths
June 23 (TravelAndy): “No selfie” signs were put up and red flags installed at prominent tourist spots across Goa on Friday.
This comes following recent tourist deaths, the video of one of which went viral on June 17, said The Indian Express. The deaths have occurred in seaside zones marked dangerous where the victims had ventured into despite warning signs being put up.
The new flags and fresh warnings went up at the most prominent tourist spots in Goa: Baga River, Dona Paula Jetty, Sinquerim Fort, Anjuna, Vagator, Morjim, Ashwem, Arambol, Kerim in the north. In the south, the signs have gone up at Agonda, Bogmalo, Hollant, Baina, Japanese Garden, Betul, Canaguinim, Palolem, Khola, Cabo De Rama, Polem, Galgibagh, Talpona and Rajbagh. Safe selfie awareness drive in Maharashtra
May 4 (TravelAndy): Stay safe while taking selfies. That’s what the Maharashtra Tourism Development Corporation (MTDC) is trying to teach people visiting tourist spots in the west Indian state.
The move comes following incidents of people getting injured or even killed while taking selfies.
Some months ago, a teenaged girl was swept away while taking a selfie at Bandra in Mumbai and a man who jumped in to save her drowned as well. Again, a group of youngsters nearly died while taking a selfie on a cliff in the Sahyadris. Continue reading Safe selfie awareness drive in Maharashtra
