Glass roof train on Vizag-Araku route
April 18 (TravelAndy): To delight passengers travelling from Vishakhapatnam to Araku Valley in India’s Andhra Pradesh state, Indian Railways launched a special glass top coach, which will provide panoramic view of the route.
Known as Vistadome, this air-conditioned coach attached to the Visakhapatnam-Kirandul passenger train, claims to be a first-of-its-kind in Indian Railways.

Railway’s tiger tourism worries wildlife activists
February 28 (TravelAndy): India’s railway minister Suresh Prabhu’s announcement to start tiger tourism packages has got wildlife activists worried.
The minister said Indian Railways would offer complete packages, including train journey, safaris and accommodation, for Kanha, Pench and Bandhavgarh national parks in Madhya Pradesh state to spread awareness about the tiger, India’s national animal.

French help for faster Delhi-Chandigarh train
April 13 (TravelAndy): If things go to plan, the travel time between Delhi and Chandigarh by train will come down to less than two hours.
Indian Railways and its French counterpart signed a pact to this effect during Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the country, PTI reported.
The two countries will co-finance an execution study “a semi-high speed project on upgrade of the Delhi-Chandigarh line to 200kmph”.
At present, the fastest train on this route is the Shatabdi Express that takes nearly three-and-a-half hours to complete the 266km journey.
