September 8 (TravelAndy): As a first of its kind in India, Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) and Uttar Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (UPSRTC) have joined hands to start integrated online ticketing system for travellers, reported the Times of India.
This is an attempt to reach out to destinations inaccessible by train and also to facilitate travel for tourists who prefer road trips.
This scheme allows a passenger to book a UPSRTC bus ticket along with a train ticket from the IRCTC online portal.
With confirmation of the online purchase a passenger list will automatically reach the UPSRTC.
Passengers can avail UPSRTC buses from the designated station premises. Assigned railway porter will take care of the passenger’s baggage from the time of arrival in the station till the passenger boards the designated bus.
The services are slated to start by next week. It will be available in important tourist spots like Agra, Meerut and the National Capital Region, for a period of three months.
This facility is expected to help tourists reach remote destinations without any hassle.
