April 6 (TravelAndy): India’s railway minister Suresh Prabhu flagged off the country’s fastest train – Gatimaan Express – in Delhi yesterday.
The train completed its maiden run of 200km, between Delhi and Agra, in 100 minutes.
The train is a semi high-speed one and can run at the maximum speed of 160kmph, faster than any existing trains in India.
This non-stop train has two executive AC chair car and eight AC chair car coaches.
The ticket for executive class is priced at INR1,500 and normal AC chair car tickets are available at INR750.
To facilitate better customer service, the train is equipped with on board facilities including train hostesses, entertainment services, free Wi-Fi connection and multi-cuisine food options.
“Indian Railway shall run more Gatimaan trains on different sectors and this would enhance tourism in India,” said Railway minister Suresh Prabhu.
