August 13 (TravelAndy): A international tourist was killed and another injured in a hippopotamus attack in Kenya.

The incident took place by lake Naivasha, situated 90km northwest of the country’s capital, Nairobi.

Kenya Wildlife Service, in a Tweet on Sunday said: “@kwskenya is sad to announce the death of a #Chinese tourist who was attacked by a #hippo while taking pictures on the shores of Lake Naivasha yesterday evening. His colleague survived with minor bruises and was treated at #Naivasha District Hospital. We are tracking the hippo.”

Taiwan claimed the deceased, Chang Ming Chuang, 66, and the survivor, Wu Peng Te, 62, as Taiwanese citizens. However, since Kenya does not recognise Taiwan and agrees to China’s claims on the island, it referred to the victims as Chinese, reports said.

Chuang was declared dead on arrival at the Naivasha District Hospital.
