September 15 (TravelAndy): India’s beach state Goa is set to start a vintage bike and car festival on October 1.
Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) is organising this event with more than 50 vintage vehicles (cars and bikes) that will roll across Panaji, the capital of Goa, on October 1.
The rally will begin from Paryatan Bhavan in Patto at 10.30am. Then the vehicles will run across the city to Dona Paula and finally wind up its journey at Inox Courtyard, where it will be stationed for display from 12noon to 6pm.
All these vehicles will have been manufactured between 1933 and 1970. The GTDC invites participation from all vintage car owners across India.
The state is planning to transform this into an annual event, to attract an increased number of domestic tourists as well as foreigners.
Participants can log on to Goa tourism official website for details regarding registration. Spot registration is also permitted, said the GTDC website.
“Goa Tourism is already showcasing its heritage through various forms and it is apt that we also highlight some hidden treasures of the past from the automobile segment,” said the state’s tourism minister Dilip Parulekar.
