SeaWorld Orlando has got its own version of Santa, and this particular one, rocking a striped tee and breeches, get both the young and the old excited.
This Santa doesn’t go “Ho Ho Ho” though! As mimes go, Tom is silent, yet his antics have visitors in splits.
SeaWorld Orlando is high on Google’s search trends, and yes, people are interested in and visit the theme park for the roller coasters, water rides, and marine life exhibits such as dolphins, whales, sea lions, penguins and sharks, but a significant chunk goes there hoping for an encounter with the Internet-famous Tom the Mime.
Apart from its rides and resident marine animals, SeaWorld Orlando is also a hub of live entertainment. From musical performances to acrobatic shows, something is always on. And Tom the Mime is the showstopper for sure.
Thomas Munson, aka Tom, usually performs at the park’s Village Square area. During the Holiday Season, Tom ditches his black-and-white outfit for red-and-white. His most popular acts are flirting with the visitors, and fake-encouraging kids to jump in the pool, and making and elaborate show of making way for visitors in wheelchairs, including him occasionally riding of the wheelchairs with them!
Tom, who has 1.1 million followers on Facebook and hundreds or thousands in other social media platforms, has thousands of his video clips by visitors going viral online. The 60-year-old has his own social accounts as well, where he gives fans sneak peeks into his non-performing life in which he loves biking. He lives with his wife, and they have five dogs.
Tom’s show is included in the SeaWorld Orlando entrance ticket. His showtimes vary depending on the day and season.
SeaWorld Orlando, of course, has many other attractions other than Tom the Mime.
At the park, you can spend time with dolphins and even feed them. There are also beluga whales and orcas that call SeaWorld home.
If you are a fan of the mysteries and wonders of the sea, the Manta Aquarium is just for you. This is a 360-degree pop-up aquarium, inhabited by more than 3,000 marine animals, including rays, bonnethead sharks and sea dragons.
You can also meet and feed walruses and sea lions at SeaWorld’s Pacific Point Reserve.
The new Flamingo Up-Close Tour offers an insight into the world of flamingoes.
For serious thrill-seekers, SeaWorld Orlando offers roller coasters, water rides and other attractions. There are numerous rides for children.
