August 3 (TravelAndy): A railway station is one of the first things that greet a visitor to a new place. A welcoming station can make a tourist spot more desirable to a traveller.

The Sawai Madhopur railway station in west India’s desert state of Rajasthan, has been declared the most tourist-friendly railway station in the country at the National Tourism Award 2014-2015, said reports.

Being the gateway to Rajasthan’s Ranthambhore National Park, famous for its tigers, it is situated amid nature.

Visitors to this station get a real feel of the habitat, as the station demonstrates art and painting including vibrant scrub jungles, banyan trees, leopards, bears, darters, tree-pies, and of course, the tigers.

Additionally, the station has clean bio toilets and healthy drinking water facilities. This has given Sawai Madhopur station an extra edge over other stations in India.
