A via ferrata is a secured climbing route, which is equipped with steel cables, ladders and fixed anchorages, that facilitates safe trekking, climbing and hiking along mountain trails.

This via ferrata is built across Jebel Jais, the highest mountain peak in UAE. This is the first commercial via ferrata built by the Emirates.

It will be made available to the public at the end of November, 2016.

“The world-class Via Ferrata is the first in a range of mountain, activity and adventure products we are developing specifically for nature and adventure seekers,” said Haitham Mattar, chief executive officer of Ras Al Khaimah tourism development authority.

Additionally, Ras Al Khaimah also plans to open world’s longest zip-line and adventure park in the fourth quarter of 2017, said reports.
