India to host paragliding world cup

rp_para-300x2461-300x246.jpgOctober 2 (TravelAndy): Airports Authority of India (AAI) is going to host India’s first paragliding world cup in Himachal Pradesh from October 23 to October 31.

The actual paragliding competition will kick off from October 24 and will be held in the Bir Billing area of Kangra district in the state of Himachal Pradesh.

A total of 130 pilots from 35 countries have reportedly confirmed their participation in this event.

The endangered snow leopard has been chosen as the mascot of the world cup.

During the world cup, a number of festivals will showcase the culture, tourism and history of Himachal Pradesh.

As a part of the AAI initiative, physically disabled children would be treated to an aerial tour of the valley guided by trained pilots.

Bollywood stars Akshay Kumar, John Abraham and Priety Zinta, and cricketer Yuvraj Singh are expected to take part in the event.
