Make a conscious effort to be a pleasant co-passenger
Indians are not known as the best co-passengers. They tend to be loud, have little or no sense of personal space and generally don’t care if something they do could inconvenience a fellow-traveller.
As an Indian, I of course do not like to be perceived this way. But the fact is, a large number of Indian tourists outside of the country or just co-passengers in public transport whether in India or elsewhere exhibit the above-mentioned traits all the time.

Indonesia & Malaysia emerge top Muslim-friendly travel destinations
Jakarta (TAN): Indonesia and Malaysia share the top spot in the Mastercard-CrescentRating Global Muslim Travel Index (GMTI) 2019.
The report, which was published this week, includes 130 destinations around the world, both within and beyond the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC).

Seabourn cruise line to serve premium caviar to guests
Seattle (TAN): Seabourn cruise will serve premium quality caviar on board its five ships, beginning in the next few months.
The cruise line, in culinary partnership with chef Thomas Keller’s caviar company Regiis Ova, plans to offer decadent caviar to luxury travellers. Guests will get a taste of Siberian Reserve caviar, cultivated in a family-owned farm in Uruguay’s San Gregorio de Polanco.

Plane-to-plane taxi for BA premium fliers at Heathrow
London (TAN): British Airways has launched a new electric taxi service within London’s Heathrow Airport to shuttle its premium passengers to their connecting flights.
Guests will be transported directly in chauffeur-driven environment-friendly electric cabs, from one aircraft to a connecting flight .
The service, British Airways’ effort to reduce carbon footprint at the airport, features London Electric Vehicle Company cabs. The air-conditioned taxis come with a panoramic roof, gadget charging stations, WiFi, and room for hand luggage, and the rides are free of charge.

‘The Sweater Guy’ knits sweaters of holiday spots, takes selfies
New York City (TAN): Travel can do you wonders, or at least bring out your creative best. And that’s what it did to Sam Barsky.
At age 43, Sam knits sweaters of famous global destinations, followed by travelling to the actual sites and clicking photos of himself wearing his creations.
The resident of Baltimore in the US east coast stitched his first sweater with an actual trip in mind about twenty years ago, that of the Stonehenge in the United Kingdom, and has knit 132 sweaters since.
Although the first sweater ‘of a specific landmark was the Tower Bridge in London’. “I was inspired by a picture I saw in a magazine. I had never been there before and did not make it for a specific trip. But, once I started knitting more landmarks, like the Golden Gate Bridge and Venice, I knew I wanted to go there while wearing them,” Forbes quoted him as saying.

Queensland to get more Qantas flights
Cairns (TAN): Qantas has announced an increase in seating capacity and frequency across the company’s Queensland routes, from March 31, this year.
The addition will enable Australia’s flagship airline to offer over 2,600 extra seats every week compared with the same period last year.
The airline will continue the deployment of Airbus A330s on select flights from Cairns to Melbourne and Sydney.
San Francisco is TAP Air Portugal’s new destination
December 26 (TravelAndy): TAP Air Portugal has announced San Francisco as its new destination, with five flights operating between Lisbon and the American city each week starting next year.
Operations will begin on June 10, 2019, with five flights flying to and from Lisbon on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays, and Sundays. While flights from Lisbon will take off at 10.00 am, and arrive in San Francisco at 2.40 pm, local time, the ones in the opposite direction will depart at 4.10 pm, and reach Lisbon at 11.25 am, on the following day.
San Francisco will be the airline’s third new destination in the United States and eighth destination in North America in 2019. Antonoaldo Neves, CEO of TAP, said the airlines was following its expansion plans in the United States.
