Vistara starts Delhi-Lucknow flight
May 18 (TravelAndy): Indian airline Vistara started operations on the Delhi-Lucknow route on Monday.
While the daily flight takes off from Delhi at 12noon, it departs from Lucknow at 1.55pm.
The airline plans to increase the frequency to two flights a day on this route from June 16.

EasyJet adds 6 more seats to its A320s
May 17 (TravelAndy): Luton-based budget airline EasyJet will add an extra row to all its current and future A320 aircraft, increasing the number of seats from 180 to 186.

New Alicante & Dublin flights from Newcastle
May 16 (TravelAndy): Europe-based budget airline Ryanair has announced two new routes from Newcastle in its winter 2015 schedule.

May 15 (TravelAndy): Discounts are flying thick and fast at the four-day Weekday Special Travel Fair organised by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, which began in Bangkok on Thursday.
“Only a handful of tourists travel on weekdays. Visa-free travel for Indians to Philippines
May 13 (TravelAndy): Indian citizens travelling to the Philippines will now not need a visa to enter the country if they already have a valid AJACSSUK (Australia, Japan, Canada, Singapore, the US and UK) visa.
Under the new rule that came into effect last month, Indians can now can now enter the country from all entry ports, including international airports and sea ports, domestic without a Philippines visa for a period of 14 days, extendable to a maximum of 21 days. Mobikwik says hi to Indian travellers
May 11 (TravelAndy): India-based digital payment service provider Mobikwik recently announced its partnership with four leading Indian travel portals — MakeMyTrip, Cleartrip, Yatra and Goibibo.
People using these sites will be able to book make payments for flights, train, bus and hired cars taxi and hotel bookings from their Mobikwik wallets, instead of using credit cards, debit cards and net banking accounts, the company claimed.
MobiKwik expects to facilitate travel and hotel bookings worth Rs 200 crore over the next one year, reports said.
Paytm, another mobile wallet company, recently started a similar partnership with Indian Railways.
Indian Railways talk disabled passengers
May 11 (TravelAndy): A panel set up by Indian Railways will take up the issue of how to make train travel across the country easier for people with disabilities, said reports.
The chairman of the the committee, industrialist Ratan Tata, reportedly assured National Centre for Promotion of Employment of Disabled People that he would take it up at the first meeting of Kaya Kalp, which is the name of the panel.
Kaya Kalp has been created to help better the services of India’s state-owned railways. It’s first meeting will be held on Tuesday in New Delhi.
This is positive development at a time when most European cities are built with people on wheelchairs in mind. There is always an elevator near a flight of stairs or escalator. Even trains and buses are build in such a way so that temporary ramps can be used by such people to get on or off.
Air Asia discount on Vizag-KL route
May 9 (TravelAndy): Air Asia is offering an inaugural discount to passengers flying from Vizag to Kuala Lumpur.
The airline flagged off its first direct flight to Malayasian capital from the Indian port city on Friday. Air Asia had announced the new route in March.
Flyers can now buy all-inclusive fares from Rs 3,399 for this route till May 17, applicable for travel from May 10 to September 30.
This fare is available on airasia.com, along with the Air Asia iPhone and android apps.
“We are excited to launch the seventh direct flight out of India to Kuala Lumpur from Visakhapatnam,” Spencer Lee, head of commercial for Malaysia-headquartered AirAsia Berhad, reportedly said.
Apart from Vizag, Air Asia now has direct flights to Kuala Lumpur from Kolkata, Chennai, Trichy, Bengaluru, Kochi and Hyderabad.
British Airways to fly to Reykjavik, Salzburg
May 9 (TravelAndy): Iceland has always been incredibly beautiful, but the number of tourists heading to this country has increased many fold since the phenomenon called Game of Thrones made its presence felt on TV. Parts of the series have been shot in Iceland.
Travel service providers, of course, have been cashing in on the increased flow of tourists.
The latest development in this sector concerns British Airways, which has announced that it will be introducing three flights a week to Iceland’s capital Reykjavik from October 25.
